Official Prince Exo3 Graphite owners' thread

The 100 is my stick of choice. I have 3 in total.

Current favourite setup is strung in the mains @ 57lbs with Quality Tennis Strings Turbo Twist 3 and in crosses @ 59lbs with Quality Tennis Strings Synergie Synthetic Gut. I also use their Fluro Lime Overgips.

I use a Wilson Skull and Crossbones Vibration Dampener.

Just bought myself the 93 and cannot wait to get out and start using it.

I have had a few swings with it already and it feels very nice.

Its pre-strung and I was surprised how decent the strings look compared to a lot of pre-strung racquets I have seen.

And a bargain at £45. :)

I just need to sort out an overgrip but fortunately my little local sports shop is a Prince dealer, so he has every Prince grip and overgrip in stock....happy days!! I want one similar to Wilson Pro but a bit more rubbery.

The price drop is because the frame is being discontinued to make room for the EXO3 Tours. Tour demos arrive in December and the frames ship in January. I've used the 100s for over a year now. Silicone filled handles and a small amount of lead at 3 & 9 o'clock. They weigh 13.3 ou and are 9 points head light. Prince Natural Gut in the mains and Recoil in the crosses with hole inserts. These are better than the POGs and as a 51 yr old 4.5 rated 30 year teaching pro I know what I'm talking about. Grab these great sticks before they're gone.

Ah! just the person that can help me!

I got these frames six months ago (coming from Wilson tour 90) but have used the POG 15 years ago. I wanted an easier frame but with the traditional feel and olny the Exo3 seemed to fir the criteria.

Although I love the feel of the racket, and giving it a few months to adjust, But I'm still having a very hard time adjusting from a head light to a "balanced" frame, so I really need to adjust the racket.

What is the best way to modify the Exo3 100 to be more headlight, and how to do it ? I know nothing about the filling process you mention...

Does the racket accept customization well ? particularly in the handle area ? I'm thinking weight in the butt but have no idea if it allows for that...

pointers appreciated.

Cheers

Hi ,

I am ressurrecting this thread cause I just bought a new Prince Exo3 Graphite. I love this stick. How do I know if it is original ? or are they all made in China ?

Hi there,

Just wanting to know if other players are still using this stick as it is already 2013. I love the Prince range of racquets mainly for its profile and the exo3 95IGNITE. So i've wanted to get something similar. I'm also a big fan of the mid range racquets ( i.e ....93 -95).

Just wanting to know if other players have ideal configurations for this stick ( i.e.... strings / tension ....etc).

Do tell !.

I'll post a pic soon :)

Has anyone tinkered with the stock grip on their Mid 93?

I love the feel of playing with this racket. It hits a nice solid ball, the mass gives easy depth and power and great control. My only problem is that it feels a bit heavy to me, but I think it is down to the grip.

The leather plus overgrip makes the grip a touch too large feeling and I think if I put on a Resi-Thin the size will feel better in my hand and I will be able to relax my grip, knowing I have plenty of hand around it.

I was just wondering whether switching out the leather is going to mess up the feel of the racket? Has anyone else switched out the leather for a lightish synth grip and if so, what changes did you notice, good or bad?

Many thanks

2 weeks ago I replaced leather grip on my Graphite 93 with Prince Resithin and its great, more comfortable and *knock*knock* no blister so far!

I also have on both 93's total 8 g of lead at 10 and 2 hours as it feels like tip of the frame is too light and hollow and there is no pop if you hit ball on top of stringbed...

Youre a star! Thats exactly what I am looking to do.

Did you weigh the racquet once the Resi-Thin was on, without the lead?

I'm wondering what difference it makes to the static weight?

Hey there,

Yeah often wondered about that leather grip ( its weight) . But yeah gonna take it off and replace it with a Prince Resi thin. What kind of strings you guys using......ive got on the Prince Synthetic gut. Does it say anywhere on your racquet that its made in China ?

this is it for now.....

On all my POGs (that I play with) I replace the leather grip with 2 overgrips only. That lightens them a bit, which I like and brings ballance to 4-6 HL depending on version.
But now, the EXO3 version is only 2 points headlight, isn't it? So with lighter grip it would become close to even ballance?

Pretty sure the 93 is 8 points head light stock.

I use the 93. I have 7 working sticks, plus 1 more cracked frame from hitting the ground. It's my primary stick. I use the port holes.

I get good pace and placement on the forehand, decent spin. Good on serves, especially my kicker. Weakness is the 2HBH. No pace, no spin like I get from other frames, no forgiveness if I mishit. I assume it's my mechanics. I will say, the midplus 100 was great for my backhand, but I found the forehand and serve lacking, so I went with the mid.

I normally use Gamma DuraSpin 16, a textured syn gut, strung at 54 lbs. Lately I have been going 53 lbs to give my serve some more pop. I never break strings on this stick, much unlike my old 16x19 frame (every 10 hours or so).

Its weird that you dont break syngut. If you have no spin on backhand you can try some poly strings as they will help you alot with spins. I have soft poly in mine (polystar energy) but I would rather recommend stiffer polys such as BBO...

Yes, made in China.

I use the PSG too. Its a nice string and feels very comfortable.

Yes the 100 is 2pts HL, whereas the 93 has a heavier static weight and is around 7/8pts HL. I'm guessing that switching to a resi-thin is going to drop the static weight by about 10g and reduce the HL balance to around 5/6pts.

Just guessing though. I'll know when I give it a go.

I dislike poly. It is great for the first ~90 minutes, then just dies. Power fades, spin is gone, no feel. It works great for the pros, but not for me.

I find the textured syn gut I use is much more consistent in terms of performance.

Just completed my first weekend of matches alternating between my Prince Exo3 Ignite 95 and my Prince Exo3 Graphite 93 to check on the differences. I kept winning most of my games with the Prince Exo3 Graphite 93. Worked great especially it handling the return serves. But as with all mid sized racquets , its unforgiving. There is no margin for error. But I now understand why they are meant for pros. You have to be physically adept in order to really appreciate this racquet. To top it off , i love the cosmetics on the racquet. Anyone knows where the green / brown colour combination stems from ? I'm definitely gonna buy a couple more of these in case they become discontinued.

Tension range for Prince Graphite Exo3 93

Hi again ,

Does anyone know the tension range for this stick ? I can't seem to find it. I'm using Prince's synthetic gut (can't remember the string gauge) and had it strung to 55 lbs.

However , after playing a couple of matches ....the strings have started to move and I have to pull them back in place. Is this normal ?

Look forward to hearing from you.

br,Cap'n

I think it is normal. In my experience, syngut always moves and stringing within the recommended range will not stop that.
Then again, I haven't really used syngut in 10+yrs so perhaps syngut technology has progressed to something I'm unaware of.

I mainly ever used PSGD 16 and 17. For me personally, the string is too soft and moves a lot and launches a fair bit. It seems to lose tension quickly. I recommend to gosen OG sheep micro in a natural colour. If you string it up on the higher end it plays very crisp for a while and doesn't move so much compared to prince syn gut. It definitely has my vote as the standard syn gut to use and very good on price.

Just string the crosses with any slippery poly at tension quite a bit lower then mains. Strings would snap back more, you'll gain spin and controll.

Me too. I can only guess that the green/black pj is a tribute to the POG, but updated to the EXO3 paint pattern for the year of production.

I always found the grip too feel a little big with an OG and never felt I was getting the best out of the racket. Well I have now replaced the leather grip for synthetic and here are some specs for you. (we all love a few specs).

Starting weight - 345g
Plus OG - 350g in total

Leather grip removed (trimmed obviously) - 21g

Put on a DuraPro+ (which actually happens to be my favourite synthetic grip and yes I put on the orange colour, which looks similar to the colour of leather.)

New weight - 340g
Negligible change in HL balance, but now no need for OG. The grip feels super comfortable. Great tack, sufficient padding without being too squishy.

And the desired 10g removed.

Forgive me if I get a bit of a bee in my bonnet about the phrase 'players racquets'. I am an above average intermediate player, but certainly could not consider myself an advanced player. However, this a great racket to play with at any level Im sure. Great stability, decent size sweet spot, easy access to power with minimal effort due to the mass, easy to return shots from heavy hitters and great control to put the ball where you want at a decent pace. I also think the weight is comfortable and actually helps you/makes you play your shots a lot better.

if there's any owners still swinging the EXO3 GRAPHITE 100,
silly Q but are all of yours 27" std length?

today used example turned up here & it looks factory 28"

Anyone still enjoying the 93?

I've been using mine more and more lately. I just find the weight and balance are beginning to suit me better and I can really swing out without losing any control. Great racket.

I grew up using wooden rackets and after coming back to the game a couple of years ago, I am finding that the heavier, smaller headed 93 seems to suit my old school strokes.

My graphite 100 would be nearly perfect if it was more head light.

Yeah they seemed close to even balance on the specs. Have you tried the 93? Despite it being a 93, the head shape is quite round and I don't know if its the Exo3 technology, but the sweet spot is pretty big. Feels bigger than some 95 and 98's I have.

I'm no expert on rackets, far from it, but I find the 93 my go to racket. Does everything well for an allround game. Easy to rally all day from the baseline, spin is easy to generate and volleys are great too. I replaced the leather grip with a Skin Feel. Turned out to be a great mod. The feel in the hand is slightly lighter, static weight is down to 335g, but it still feels very HL.

I guess you could add some weight to the handle of the 100, but it starts to get a bit heavy I expect.

I have yet to try the 93, but most likely never will now. I imagine a 93 would be a bit small for me. Anyhow, I'd like to try your tailweighting idea.

I also have a 100 that I never use..I've tried a few times to go back to it, and while I like the feel of it quite a bit, it seemingly has no power and my results with it are not good...everything is short and lacks pace compared to my other racquets.

I always felt the 100 had slightly odd specs really. From what I can recall, it was about 330g strung, a SW of 335 and about 2 pts HL.

That seemed too even balanced to me for a fairly heavy, low powered racquet. Whilst the 93 I have is 340g strung and a SW of 330, its about 6 or 7 pts HL, which really helps.

I think Prince got the specs of the PCG100 right with a SW of 320 and about 6pts HL.

yea the specs on the 100 don't really look all that appealing. I'm a mid user anyhow, and I think I may be getting one here shortly to compare to my POG's.

I just thought I would pipe up again about this delightful racquet.

Sometimes I really don't know why I try other racquets, when I find it so hard to find much fault with this 93.

Despite being a 93, the roundish head-shape seems to extend the sweetspot and regardless of whether the ports have any major impact, it feels very generous.

Hitting the ball deep is effortless with an easy swing that lets the mass of the racquet do the work and punching volleys away at the net feels really good.

Slicing is great, but I suppose the only negative is that I don't feel heavy, kicking topspin is easily acheived, but that could just be me.

I think if you like an old school style of play or mostly play doubles, this racquet should tick most boxes. I like it anyway.

I think you nailed it yeah.

I'm currently playing with a 98, but I keep looking at the pog 93.

On one hand I do get easier power and defense with the 98, but my error count goes up, I seem to frame a lot of shots with the 98 and not so much with the 93.

The only thing keeping me going back to 93 is low power even at lower tensions

Since original grommet sets seems to be gone for good, which hole grommet sets are compatible with the Exo3 graphite 100 ?

Best racquet ever, in my opinion. Of course Prince stopped making them.
Actually I think the still available PCG 100 is IMMHO ten times better, because it fixed the balance to a more HL one making the stick much much more maneuverable!
also since the PCG ha sstandard grommets, makes stringing the racket soooo much easier (on any machine without the rotation break system)

The Exo3 100 was almost even balanced with a 330ish SW. The PCG dropped the SW to about 320 and went more HL. Makes for a much more manoeuvrable stick.

The Exo3 93 is very HL though. Despite being similar in static weight and SW to the 100, the balance makes it easier to use IMO. Sweet stick.

Well... getting a couple of 93 Exo3 graphites tomorrow... let's see how it goes...
The newest 93 from Prince (as of 2019) seems to be getting rave reviews.... so this one is not too far off specs-wise....

300 is unstrung. So it is right.
I did see in a store mentioning 300 swing weight. Usually it's the strung weight that gets into discussion v unstrung weight but is this valid for swing weight too? Is 300 swing weight the correct version for exo 3 mid or is it the light weight version/ fake ? I am curious as I cannot demo it in India.
