As a data point I'm stringing the 2014-2015 PS 97s at 42 lbs with synthetic solid core strings for ambient temps in high 40s F and will be raising tension by a 1-2 lbs each time as temps rise. 41 lbs was just right for me playing at temps just around freezing or slightly above.

I will use racquet head tape and may resort to cutting up new available grommets to make them fit when I feel I need to replace the grommets. Smushed grommets don't matter to me and haven't over the years.

As the owner and user of 3 of those 2014/2015 and having serious issues with grommets I might be an interested party in this post.

Which model you mean exactly ? plural of PS 97, or the PS 97S ??
and if you meant plural of PS97 - can you ellaborate on cutting up new grommets to fit on the 97 ?? is that doable or actually viable ? I mean... has that been done before?

plural sorry I should have written PS 97's. I haven't cut up any grommets yet but that is my plan should I feel I need to. I've seen a bunch of posts stating people can't find any more grommet sets for the 2014-15 v.10 version of which I have several. I love the slippery/matte finish of the originals. Shiny looks nice too but I'm not really a fan of the rubbery coating.

I have read of some people cutting up grommets to fit other racquets (not the PS97), and the process has worked for them. Another strategy is install a bit of nylon tubing as a last resort measure.

This is a great racquet. Up until last fall I was going back and forth between it and RF 97. Glad I am fully committed to PS 97.

It does whatever you want it to do. Won’t give you free power like tweeners will but the power is there when needed.

I'm in the same situation, I have three of them.

I'd really like to know more about that cutting up grommets because trust me, you DON'T want to mess around with tubing in the knot tying places... I'm doing it with one of them and practically swore I'd never go through that again.... (both bottom knot tying places are shot, so tubing on both...) inserting that last piece to tie off is pure HELL !

So for all effects I'm now down to two sticks...

Shouldn’t the RF grommets fit? Even the latest version of the RF? It hasn’t changed at all.
