Players in the past did much worse.

People look up that Mac's "You can't be serious" and think that is the limit for players.

Meanwhile Fraud to Mugray in AO 2013:
"But You fookin Stopped!!!!!"

And If I am not wrong Jimmy Connors once went to the other side of the court and threatened Mac(was it him ot someone else? ) with physical altercation.

Now that we have settled that players do worse than this, let's also understand what Tiafoe did is beyond the rules and should definitely be punished.

Players in the past did much worse.
I never forgot John McEnroe’s tirade at the 1984 Stockholm Open against Swede Andre’s Jarryd.

He was suspended from playing ATP events for 21 days.

It was a revolting display from him and he clearly hadn’t learned his lesson, as a numbers of years later he’d be disqualified from the Australian Open for yet another abhorrent display of unsporting behaviour.

Yeah but this was directed at the umpire and was literally yelling f u multiple times to his face.

Never seen that in any sport.

Check t = 00:30 in the video. The tournament turns the microphone off while Foe continues to rage.
Security guard comes onto to the court to protect the umpire from possible assault.

Happens sometimes in American Football and Basketball, though almost never to the degree of what Tiafoe did and usually you can't hear it on the broadcasts. They usually give a penalty or technical foul and keep it moving, maybe a fine if it's real bad.

That said, Tiafoe's head keeps getting too big after his deep USO runs.

It even gets worse because he was wrong - he deliberately just tossed the ball in air without any intention to actually hit it, just to prolong the time for him not to break the time violation rule.

And then he attacks the umpire "that's the rule", yeah right.

Won't even talk about the ending od the match and his disgusting behavior.

What was the questionable call again? Just curious
"Time violation, loss of first serve" - a normal call usually but the umpire did this while the ball was tossed in the air and at 5-5 deciding tiebreak. Still, it doesn't justify Tiafoe's behavior.

Classless from Tiafoe with a fake PR apology after. Hopefully he gets a fine to set a precedent but won't be surprised if nothing happens
Nothing will happen. Just the opposite. Tiafoe will cause the poor chair umpire to lose his job.
Tiafoe-- "You will never umpire my matches again. You are now on the blacklist for my F-ing matches!!!"
The ATP is the only sport where umpires are penalized for doing their jobs properly. Stop coddling these bratty players.

Tiafoe will get a fine of many tens of thousands of dollars, so that's more than enough.

If you indeed broke the rules the timing doesn't matter. You deserve to get called out. But OF COURSE people don't have the decency to understand that

A fine is peanuts for him. It is meaningless.
Tiafoe is demanding that the umpire be blacklisted from his matches. For doing his job. And you know the ATP will bow down to his wishes.
That ridiculous practice needs to end. No other sport does that. You got anything to say about that?

Tiafoe has bills to pay so big fines are far from meaningless.

I said a fine of tens of thousands of dollars was sufficient so this answers your question.

You did not answer the question. Do you support players being able to viciously abuse umpires and then blacklist umpires from working their matches for simply doing their jobs.

The footage is pretty rough. I’m surprised as much of that went to air as it did before the sound engineers nixed it on broadcast and recording.

I’m embarrassed to admit that I’ve sworn a blue streak on the court like that myself a few times unfortunately, and felt absolutely horrible afterwards. Tiafoe seems like someone who would be feeling embarrassed and ashamed of the whole thing, realising he acted horribly, and expecting an absolutely massive incoming fine.

I feel really sorry for the umpire. For all the horrible umpires on tour he really didn’t do anything wrong other than make a call that Tiafoe didn’t like.

This is Kyrgios level stuff from Frances. Never associated him with actions like this before and I don’t think it’s likely we will ever see him do stuff like this again.

Hefty fine, and I am not sure why he wasn't defaulted. Can a player be defaulted after the match has completed? Disgusting behavior, and it doesn't have anything to do with Tiafoe's race. We are in the 21st Century.

Racism is back, baby! So don't be so naive.

Once a match is over you can’t be retroactively defaulted but after a match the supervisor may withdraw a player from all events for a sIngle violation of the Code occurring during an event. The rules provide for a lot of discretion. It will be decided whether it’s a “Major Offense” or not and then go from there. Keep in mind we’ve had a player attack the umpires chair with their racket with no suspension so I’m not sure whether they will go for a suspension for verbal abuse. It would be interesting if he receives any length of suspension but Sinner gets zero from CAS for (unintentionally) doping. :D

Such an immature clown, send him back to the circus where he rightfully belongs

Hopefully it's a substantial fine and would be nice to see him suspended

Ya but he knows the rules. Made a poor choice to say what he did in an aggressive tone.
He had a time violation. He lost his first serve. “He tossed the ball” - from video replay: he wasn’t even set when he did to avoid a time violation. These serve clock rules have been in place for a while. So it’s nothing new here.
