I'd rather watch highlights from 2005 of Fed losing to Safin than watch footage of Fed beating Simon, who more recently was able to drag Fed into a five set quagmire of pushing and counter-punching mainly because of the surface--that green surface back in the day played faster than this blue stuff.

AO is just a wee bit faster than RG. AO also bounces as high as any rough clay court. USO has slowed down too in last 2 years too. Why? Already too much baseline play in ATP. Half the guys don't even know how to volley. ATP, please speed up the courts.

Yeah yeah, Federer is invincible on a "fast court" (except Paris and Dubai). You do realize the US Open played slower last year due to the hurricane that preceded the tournament. There was little to no play before the USO as a result, and the surface could not be scuffed up and dried out from all the rain. Yes, those things do affect hard courts as well.

Either Murray or Djokovic playing decently would have defeated Federer today (so long as the roof remained open) due to their return games which greatly exceed Del Potro's. The only things working for Federer were the serve and the slice.

Seeing Murray devastated during the W speech, you wished he would win something big soon. But I feel Fed and Nole would be more dramatic, with the top ranking.

I guess it's redundant to say that with Federer through, the final will be epic no matter who wins this match. If it's Djokovic, the final will be between #1 and #2 in the world, with the #1 ranking on the line. If it's Murray, the final will be a repeat from just several weeks ago, with Murray trying to avenge his loss in front of his home country crowd.
