Not that I think the quality here is good but the 2000 Olympics in tennis were an absolute joke. Also do I need to remind you Nicolas Massu and Mardy Fish was the finals match in 2004?

Really the prestige has only been good-ish from ‘08-16. Agassi wrote in his book that the ‘96 Olympics field barely included any of the top 10.

Agree. That is why I think the golden slam is irrelevant. Cygs, yes, golden? Nah.

Not to trigger any Steffi fans but I was reading about her Golden Slam the other week and it seemed a little weak. For one, Navratilova actually skipped the Olympics that year.

I suppose she did the CYGS anyways so was undoubtedly the best player, but yeah the Olympics are a little dubious as a tournament.

The way I would look at the Olympics is, instead of playing Canada Masters, there is a Japan Masters 1000 held instead. Obviously it means more to the players than a Masters but the format of the tournaments are nearly identical.

So, what? You're telling me the presence of Federer who barely looked a top 10 player at Wimbledon, Nadal and Shapovalov would significantly boost this thing? You get a shot at it every 4 years, you're not just out there for yourself but representing your entire nation. It's not a slam, but there's at least as much riding on it as any other tournament there is.

all of those guys are better than Massu, Baggy, Ljubicic and Blake...so what seems to be the problem? This is very likely the hardest Olympics draw ever.
Meanwhile back in reality Delpo had to play Novak, Nadal, and Murray in his Olympics campaign in Rio.

Another tournament, another whining thread by the forums most boring poster. Jeez
First, and probably not the last one... Tournament haven't even started, lol... For slams he averages probably like 5 whining threads... Lol...

Edit... He was decent poster, but Novak's success made a whining zombie of him...

Well, at least if you lose a match you lose the event! Unlike some other so called tournament hyped by some on this forum.
:) the reason you find the "hype" pointless is rather transparent, since you would much rather minimise the fact of 0 titles won there.
