OMG Dunlop balls SUCK!!!!

Please for the love of god, DUNLOP, STOP MAKING BALLS!!!

rant on!

That is all
DUNLOP???? heck those are the only balls we use if possible. dunlop has been making balls before anyone else does. bought a box of wilsons lately and every single tube yields dead balls but i'm not about to tell wilson to stop making balls.

Dunlop Championship balls are mediocre, but their Grand Prix balls keep their felt and pressure longer than any other ball on the market. A TW best-seller!

These balls are also superb, even better than RG French Open:

Grand Prixs are awesome after abit of hitting with the; out of the can they are abit hard. Championships are ok for just hitting around. Never tried Abzorbers.

Don't forget Dunlop also makes Slazenger balls too, the ball of Wimbledon. The Ultra-viz play alot like the Grand Prixs. I've been hitting with them awhile and I've got a can of Prixs so I'll see which I like better. So far, I'm liking the Ultra-viz but I'll pop open the can of Prixs tonight to get a better comparison

The Ultra-viz play very fast and spinny, and feel kinda hard off the string bed, right out of the can but after they loosen up abit, they feel nice and seem very durable. Alot like how the Prix play

My local tennis shop tells me the Slazenger Wimbledon and RG French open balls are one and the same. Anyone else heard of this?

Dunlop balls are the only balls my coach will buy. During the season when we had away matches and what not we always used like prince balls and I hated it

Dunlop make by far the best balls IMO. Nothing lasts as long and they play superbly. What issues did you have with them?
IMHO lasts long means rubbish. If I wanted last long I would just leave them in the can.

Actually leave them on the shelf is the best thing to do with Dunlop. I hate, detest, loathe them. They play like a lump of concrete. They don't take spin, there is no feel, they don't compress when you hit them.

I had to play a match with them last week, and I knew in advance the balls would be Dunlop so I took some Becker Pros in Hurrican Pro at 55lbs, and even then it was hard to keep the ball in. Sorry, each to his own, but even Tretorn play better, even Wilson titanium. I actually don't even enjoy tennis when I have to use Dunlops, but then you might have guessed that.

Love the Dunlops. We use Dunlops almost exclusively unless no one has a can and then we'll use whatever the shop has (Penn).

this is absurd, dunlop are some of the better balls out ther along wiht tecnifibre and penn
you want to talk trash balls try some wilson or prince

You must be crazy. Unless your opponent took them to his advantage and went hard on you.

Other than that Dunlop balls are the greatest balls on the planet. Except mine.

Dunlop balls last longer than anything. Dunlop's durafelt technology is unreal. The difference between wilson and dunlop balls are like Xavier Malisse and Roger Federer. Its dunlops or nothing for me. Dunlop has been kind of an inspiration to me. The balls seem to float and come down consistently off of topspin. Dunlop's grooves also dont fall apart like Wilson's. Whenever Dunlop comes to the courts-The players come to the dunlops.

Gotta go with Dunlop! They last longer & bounce better than any other ball brand I've tried. I believe varying opinions on tennis balls has to do with a few factors, including court surface (& yes there are MANY variations with hard courts), climate & style of play. On the softer (re: improperly constructed) public courts I often play on where I grew up, the Dunlops fit all my needs, Wilson 2nd & Penn somewhere around 99th if there were 98 other tennis ball manufacturers. There is a clear discrepancy between Dunlop & Penn.

i have to say dunlop balls are one of the best. i teach 3x a wk. and i replace my balls (dunlop gran prix) every 6 months but still mix the old ones in. they consistently hold there bounce, maybe a flaw cosmetically once in a while but they hold their bonce.

Well maybe its just the high altitude, but pretty much everyone around here thinks dunlop are the worst, the dont last more than 1hr/set.

Where exactly are you? Most people love Dunlops (I do as well as Slaz) but I can understand that they can feel a bit different (heavy or harder) than some other balls...but the one thing I've never heard is someone complaining that they don't last long. Even people who hate Dunlops admit they last forever compared to any other balls.

Wilson, Penn/Head, etc - even their top of the line balls barely last a set - Dunlops are the Energizer bunny of balls...

Just curious exactly how high is high altitude for you.

maybe you got a bad can. i use penn, because they're cheap at costco, but have to admit that they suck monkey balls compared to dunlop.

5to6k ft.

Not a bad can, dunlops are pretty much universally disliked, But its what we get for league.

Not sure about in the US but in the UK it's quite easy to pick up Dunlop Fort really cheap. Perhaps you should have a look around for them.

First of all, at that altitude you should be using special high altitude balls. Anything else will play way off. So are you using high altitude Dunlops? And if the Dunlops are so "universally disliked" - what balls do people like then just for comparison?

i probably shouldn't even be mentioning/complaining about the price. a can of 3 balls is under $3 in the US, and i hear that they're quite a bit more expensive in other parts of the world.

good lord, they're like $8/can in the UK...

wth that's crazy!! i guess that'd be time to ask hitting partners to pool some money together to get some balls:shock::shock:

I haven't hit wit many Dunlops for comparison, but I think Prince is shait when it comes to balls. The feel like pressureless, just a weird bounce. I felt some odd like, I can't really grip the ball,

All you have to do is step on them and roll them under your foot (moderate pressure) for about 5 seconds each, and they will feel a bit softer and broken in. Dunlop balls last longer than Penn or Wilson, no doubt.

I'll stick with the Pro Penn balls over anyothers. They are really no more expensive than the Grand Prix's but I don't find them as hard and I think that the Penn's bounce better and hold bounce as good or longer. The regular Dunlop Championship balls are absolutely crap. I also play at about 5500 ft. and we do use high altitude balls but the Dunlops just don't cut it.
I used to really love the Wilson US Opens but they seem to have changed for the worse. Harder and lower bounce than they used to be.

I think the Dunlop Championship balls are great. They last longer than most other brands.

However, I hate the Dunlop Grand Prix balls because they are as hard as rocks.

The Dunlop Gran Prix are my favorite balls ever. They're hard to find in my area though, so I usually get Wilson US Open or Pro Penn+. I may order a case of the Grand Prix from TW pretty soon though. One of my hitting partners insists on getting cheap Wilsons and Penn's from Wal-Mart and I can't stand them.
