Some of you might have read my post about switching away from the PD back to the ProStaff 6.0 here:

and the part where my coach gave me an old ProStaff Midsize he had. Well, I got it back from restringing yesterday and was able to take a good look at it. It has much less printed inside the throat than the new ones, and in fact, the grip size is a stick-on label, and the string range is 55-65, rather than 50-60 on the new PS's. The code on the (white) butcap is JA... "Q," or "O." (There's a mar on the buttcap there, and it's faint to begin with.) As I was playing it last night, I happened to notice that the primer under the paint is reddish orange. (More red than orange to me, but I'm a guy. We only see 16 colors, like Windows default settings...) A friend I was playing with told me: "OMG, it's a St. Vincents, bud! Put it away!"
Well, that just ain't gonna happen, Whether it's a St. Vincents or not, then it's gonna get played until it breaks. I play these sticks, I don't collect them...
Now, if it really IS a St. Vincents, then I have to say that there is a difference in how it plays. It seems to have bit more heft to it, a little more solidity than the other PS I have. I served with it all night, and was very consistent. The little added heft gave my serves a little more pop, and it volleys very well. I think it's gonna need a new bumper on the top, the one there is starting to go, but it feels like a very reliable bat. However, all this could just be because it's an older version of the PS.
I'm just thrilled to be playing ProStaffs again, and if it is a St. Vincent's well, then, good. It's nice to know that I got to play with a legendary bat, even if my game isn't anywhere near as legendary.
