On a scale of 1 to 10 how would rate the quality of the Wimbledon 2023 final?

I give it a 7.
Poor first set from Carlos.
Second set was a real battle, Carlos and Djok both let opportunities slip but was definitely the best set of the match.
Third set Djok was flailing around, Carlos was shoving his foot into his throat. Pretty much a mirror of the first.
Fourth set, Djok raised his level, Carlos' dipped.
Fifth set... full of tension, both players facing bp early on... the way Carlos got the break and the way he held when serving for the championship... all class.
So yeah, 2 pretty meh sets can't go above 7 for me.

I loved the result but putting that aside it wasn’t that great. Worse than the 2019 final and I never thought that one was much good in the first place.

I think the match had a bit of everything. Not the best quality of tennis throughout but a great match! 8/10

Only the 5th set was worth talking about quality wise.
2nd set was decent, maybe a little better. that's about it.
3rd set was below par to bad from Djoko, 4th set below par from Alcaraz.

The tennis wasn't always impeccable, but each set told a story, and they crafted one epic drama.
Set 1. Absolute domination by Djokovic maybe coupled with some nerves by Alcaraz, absolutely showing the gulf in experience between them on this stage.
Set 2. Alcaraz rebounds remarkably from the beating he has taken, works his way into the match, and then beats the most successful tiebreaker player in history in a tiebreaker to keep from going down 2 sets to nothing.
Set 3. Alcaraz breaks straight away and you wonder if he will be able to hold on. That epic 20+ minute game maybe the pivotal moment in the entire match where it all could have swung one way or the other, and the kid takes the double break. He junkballs Novak throughout this set like it's the 2013 US Open Final, and it looks like he has completely broken him down.
Set 4. Djokovic no longer seems bothered by the junk, ups his first serve and starts hitting more aggressively and takes the set without a care in the world and makes Carlos look like the boy he is, and you think "Oh well, business as usual". He also breaks to take the set so he's serving first in the fifth and you can't believe he is doing this again.
Set 5. Alcaraz 18 winners, 5 unforced. Djokovic 3 winners, 3 unforced. Teeth Rises.
8 out of 10. Beautiful swings back and forth.

5/10. Half the match was solid. Definitely nowhere near the GOAT matches of Wimbledon. Djoker played rather poorly.. It shouldn't even have went 5

It's a historical moment, a young player dethroning a four-time defending champion, regardless of the level of play (which wasn't bad at all). 9 from me.

Way too many dips in play from both guys for me to rate it any higher than a 6. The first set from Tiny Carl was incredibly poor. Joker choked the 2nd set TB and was a zombie in the 3rd. Tiny Carl choked the 4th away with a DF. Having said that, he showed a ton of mental strength and finished the match with like +20 winners to UFEs.

3rd set of Wim 15 was way better than 1st/3rd/4th sets of today.
I'd say a little better than 2nd set of today as well.

A solid 6 or perhaps 7. First set was obviously horrible from Carlos, the second was choppy though better, the third was Djokovic in zombie mode, 27 minute game notwithstanding. Then the 4th set was quite a dip from Carlos again and Novak breezed through. The fifth was the best set and Alcaraz rose to the occasion magnificently.

Solid 8, loved this match, yeah it clearly wasn't always good but the best points of it + the tension, the scenario, the crowd, it was a long match but it felt like 30 minutes, it was captivating to watch.

It was a great match and one of the best things any true fan of the sport can do is to not come on this forum and read the garbage posted on here during the matches. I'm convinced that the vast majority of people hating on the quality of the match were too busy sh1tposting about how "2013 X was far superior and would never lose to 2023 Y" and other dumb scenarios rather than just watch the damn match.
Yes, the levels of the two players kept fluctuating but this is the case in the vast majority of matches. Dips in form and errors in crucial moments are ingredients of a great match and the drama they produce are a big reason that a match becomes compelling to watch. Besides the 1st set, every set featured some incredible rallies and athleticism.

It was a very good match and one that will have repercussions for the future. It was an important match in that we have seen the passing of the guard in a sport that desperately needed it even though players like Nadal, Djokovic and Federer are true greats. I don't know how many posts, newspaper articiles and interviews on tennis in general that I've read begging for a change in regards to the younger generation stamping their name in the sport. We had that today and although it may have been a bitter defeat for Djokovic fans, I think they too must acknowledge that a change is needed for the game to remain interesting and for it to flourish.
