My initial review.
Was “lucky” browsing TW Sunday afternoon and found the last pair of the ON Roger shoes in my size and decided to pull the trigger and get them. They arrived yesterday, obviously, a return that was worn around the house or so.
i believe when this the case, so obvious, bunched up front, they should be sold at a discount…
Nevertheless, great fit, no break in needed. I like them better than in pictures. The padding is great, not excessive (these are tennis shoes after all), and definitely not missing any comfort. The sloping is perfect.
I consider my feed to be medium width, and did not find these to be wide at all (as some reported), very good fit for me all around. No slipping and felt like my foot was secure, stable but not tight (like my LT21 Ultra or like BIcons).
Looking at the bottom sole, I was wondering if they would offer ANY traction - they do, and it is great and easy to break the traction when needed. Not sure how long the sole will last but as many have mentioned, I do not expect it will last too long. I will keep updating with my experience.
Heading over to China next week and will be taking these with me, travel in them on a 16+ hour flight and will play in them while over there.
Aside the steep price (and may be justified by the quality which is obvious, but may quickly change if the durability is not there), a few negatives:
- the plastic on the outside is just rubbing and causing discomfort. I am not sure if thicker socks would solve this, if it will soften up over time, however, it is just at the “wrong” level and every time I change direction or do a hard stop, it bothers me. Hoping that it is just because they are new
- the tongue flap is just stupid and unnecessary. I wish I could remove it, or cut it off. Once the laces are tied, sometimes they lay right on top of that button and it is hard to click it in…. Unnecessary waste of time and can’t be left dangling as it would be very annoying.
I’ll do the second session today and will report the updates including - would I buy them again at $216 (with taxes)…
