Granite's got game. Awesome setting too.
Is that you?
btw, not sure if you can from his video, but granitechief is a pretty tall
guy. I'm guessing 6'4" or 6'5". I've played him a couple times. I'm
182cm and I felt tiny next to him!
He certainly leverages his height in his serves! WHOA.
I'll be looking out for a tall guy next time I hit the Muni courts.
Ya thats me (light blue hat) at Princeville Tennis Club in Kauai. Gorgeous there, can't wait to go back.
Ya 6'5" but starting to shrink slowly haha!
Let me know, we'll have a hit!
Should be sometime in June.
Would love to hit, as it would be great fun (and crushingly humbling) for me.
Cool serve too.
lol ok my bad. my apologies. i didnt see the links.
wow so people still do hit 1handers.
only old people
yeah, 1hb is dead.
except for a couple of really good ones who are playing on the tour, none of the others posted here would make me avoid pounding that wing all day long.
no disrespect guys... even TMF is suffering from a weak 1hb.
and, it's Friday now, what happened to OP? was supposed to put one up yesterday.
Your serve reminds me of some pro player. Can't pinpoint which one.
There is some of Marion Bartoli in there. But there is some ATP player too ....
He nicely trolled everyone here.
yea! its kind of sad
I reread his post and he said it was really cold and he would try his best to film by this week. I'd say he was not trolling, and the weather is being a pain.
This would be the ultimate fail OP to make a call out thread and not deliver.
I have faith in the FrisbeeFool.
You think you can beat granite chef? Do you have any film up anywhere?
Saying you would pound that wing is a REALLY simplistic mindset that assumes they would allow that to happen.
I think you mean there is some of me in Julia Georges?
Don't know about that, but the takeback and early part of the swing reminds me of Bartoli. That may only be because I saw her on TV a couple of days ago?
On the ATP, am I thinking about Soderling?
reminds me of tim henman.
Julia Gorgeous reminds you of Tim Henman?
Not that there is anything wrong with that
Don't worry Chief, I understood you.
i didn't exclude the possibility that i can pound and still lose.
bh is about 10-15% in deciding win/loss.
edit - according to my new calculation - it's only about 4% - remind me the purpose of this thread again? lol
I would rather that I had not .......
Lets see you hit man. Thats what this thread is about. You called out the OP multiple times, so you're up to bat.
I love you babe.
Serves and grunts like Djoker
Here's a good topic....
Would Roger Federer be as fun to watch and popular if he had a 2 hander?
* He'd still be fun to watch and popular, but not to the same extent as he currently is.
yes without a doubt, in practice he hits those 2 handers just as graceful as his 1 handers.
honest the 1 hander really doesn't make his game more 'beautiful'.... his signature is the fh and the slice.
he would be crushing those nadal 2nd serves and wouldn't have gone like 1 for 50 on bp conversions.
No! And I say this with great trepidation, possessing a 2 hander myself... I hope the heavens don't strike me down for uttering such blasphemy... !!
huh? Roger's 2hbh is not graceful at all. it's almost awkward.
I'd bet the majority of ppl associate fed's bh with part of the beauty of his game.
Fed's bp conversion rate is over 40%.
Fed would crush anyone in my District with his 2 hander. He would certainly destroy high level 5.0s who pose as 4.5s.
His 2 hander is a chunk of beauty.
i'm sure he would.
but hmm... i've only seen him hit like idk... 10 of them. Do you have any links to his beautiful 2 hander?
No, I don't think he would be as fun to watch. It just wouldn't be Roger. That one hander is part of the whole Fed package - beauty, power, and accuracy. A 2hbh is just so much more . . . workmanlike - and I hit a two hander.
Some stats from 2012:
Break points won:
Novak Djokovic 46%
Rafael Nadal 49%
Roger Federer 42%
Andy Murray 41%
Yes, I have the links. You may stop by tomorrow to pick them up.
Correction: "crush anyone... with his 2 handed backhand and forehand"
And here is the link for all doubters,
This vid proves once and for all that Fed is really just a high level 4.0 who gets lucky cakewalk draws because he is very handsome.
Only problem is that the 42% falls dramatically to somewhere around 20% in big matches, particularly against the top few. In one of his greatest performances in recent times (French Open 2011 vs Djokovic), I believe he was 3 for 14. Not top notch stuff.
Yeah, especially with his rookie 2 handed left handed forehand slice!
What are the percentages of the other big 4 guys against the top few? I would imagine that their percentages drop too. Top players are top players because they tend not to get broken very much.
no i don't think so. maybe it's goes lower but you'll never find a stat that says Fed is ~20% in big matches. stats are not kept for 'big matches'. I'm sure I can find just as many big matches where his % was above 40% throughout his career. of course it's getting lower in his later years. so does every other stat.
and the 2011 french open match... yea.. he was playing djokovic who hadn't lost in like 40 matches or whatever it was and it's fed's worst surface. cherry picking stats does not a point make.
The fact that clay is his worst surface doesn't justify the low percentage. If you can get that many chances, you should definitely be able to convert. But you're right. I didn't mean to cherry pick. It was just the first to come to mind. I don't mean to imply that there is a factual statistic claiming he has a low conversion percentage in big points. It's just that if recent memory serves me right, a lot of his big matches in recent years have had low conversion percentages, especially in losses. Along with his first serve percentage, his conversion percentage generally seems to be a good indicator of whether he wins or loses.
welcome to the forum.
Thanks. Should be fun.
