One of the biggest upsets in the sports history

Fabresque

Legend
4x slam champion who’s won 2 slams this year just got dumped out in the 2R by the World No. 74.

This was his only win against a top 10 player in a slam ever.

He played amazing we shouldn’t take that away from him.

Congrats Botic!

Expectations from people Who dont understand the sport, not from me, i feel exactly the same about Alcaraz after this match, i know what player he is, what he Will acomplish its impossible to know, and for that reason and for others, i dont care either
I feel the same as well. An Agassi type talent and career. Pretty amazing to have.

Some people who overreact at this are the types who purposely overrated him so that they can put him down afterwards.

He has always been a more risk-taking, up-and-down kinda player and it's also been becoming apparent that HC is his relative weakness despite his slam here.

He can definitely wise up, or continue to play the same, but I won't be surprised at upsets either way as his game by default isn't the consistent one we expect from Djoker or the big three who we've been spoiled with.

And holding him to big 3 standards isn't fair in the first place. I don't care who hypes him that way but it's not his fault.

Ok, first of all I'm a big Carlitos fan. And Botic played really well in the sense he made low percentage shots repeatedly during the match, but to be honest, those few "miracle shots" weren't numerous enough to determine the outcome of the match. Basically Botic didn't miss and Carlos was missing low percentage shots that he routinely makes. The upshot is Carlos has no problem solving skills or has no awareness of what's happening in the match or has no plan B. Usually a poor Mental Game means lack of focus or grit, in his case poor problem solving. Yikes. Still a fan, but Janik is looking better and better.

He's ahead of the Big 3, except maybe Rafa.

At his current age, Federer had no Slams and Djokovic had one.

Also none of the Big 3 had been ranked #1 yet

More Enhanced and More Enhanced.

I'm not saying he's not at his current pace.

I'm just saying holding anyone to the standard of the big three and then being disappointed afterwards is unfair to him.

We'll see about what he achieves but I sure wouldn't pretend to be disappointed if he doesn't have their numbers.

No one should be upset or surprised by this loss.

He will go on to be one of the 10 best ever and might win 8 slams. That is insane.

The reactivity of the this forum is crazy, One match doesn’t derail Alcaraz’s career, Nobody should expect him to reach Big Three numbers but I admit I would be disappointed If he doesn’t reach double digit Borg/Sampras numbers.

Age is a mitigating factor only when you are not yet established.
Once you have won 4 Majors there are certain expectations. Age goes out the window.
Shocking Olympic upset to injured old Djoker, loss to 48 y.o. clown Monfils, Botic...
Can anyone recall an ATG struggling like this after firmly establishing himself as a #1 player?
