The challanger nishesh basavareddy is novak first hurdle in AO. WILL novak prevail or young gun will create history.
Huge age diffrence .....
19 years vs 37.5 years
You never know if match goes to 5 setter

As well as nishesh has played this past year it would still be a massive upset. I don't think novak has diminished to that level yet. it will also be on novak favorite court.

Obviously Novak, if he loses to someone I don't even know then it is definitely over for him.

I dislike Novak as a person but marvel at his game. I think he has more than a shot to win the tournament
Of course he has chance to win it. If he can play his peak game, I can see him winning matches till the final where Sinner is huge toughest battle.

If I were teaching someone to play tennis you would teach them like Novak plays. If I were to teach someone how to be an ambassador to the sport I would teach them to be like Roger and Rafa. Novaks B game is better than almost every player, and we shouldnt forget he played Sinner and Alcaraz tough last year losing close sets with a fresh surgically repaired knee

basavareddy said in a podcast that he somewhat modeled his game after novak. playing your idol in a major in front of the whole world is probably too much for anyone, hard to see him pull it off but i am rooting for him.

It doesn't matter much, Alcaraz will dispatch him in the quarterfinals and end the era of the Big 3 finally.

Do you remember the Dino Prizmic match from last year?

Well he also lost a set to Couacaud (never heard of him since then) in 2023 and then he won the whole thing. Alcaraz lost a set to a Dutch guy ranked 300 in Roland and 2 weeks later he left Paris with the trophy. Dropping sets in early rounds doesn't of GS doesn't mean much for these players.

Not in Australia in BO5.
He hasn’t showed decline.
When Novak was dialed in for the Olympic gold he won it. Everything else was just tennis and a tune up before.

This year he plans to play more tournaments. Now 7th in the world his draw will be challenging with alcaraz and zverev in his half for a Qf/SF.
