I still have Djokovic as the top leader of AO. But I understand Roger's case too.
At the Eighth Masters? Federer has 3 titles (2 in Shanghai, 1 in Madrid) and 2 other finals (1 in Madrid, 1 in Shanghai).
I'm going with the official ATP stats which dates Masters events from 1990 (when they first became mandatory events).
;-)Got me there.
gg.
I am curious, what do you think Djokovic’s case is? (I ask this in full respect)I still have Djokovic as the top leader of AO. But I understand Roger's case too.
It was difficult for me to work out if 1990 was the division or not. That is trueWell OP obviously count even Masters before 1990, because he has Lendl there. But yeah, since 1990 Murray leads.
And if I am not mistaken first time Masters become mandatory was 2009, before that anybody could skip them as he wanted. In 1990 they just created ATP world tour and Masters become part of it.
In the Open era, who are the leaders at the 4 Slams, the WTF and the 9 Masters 1000's?
Australian Open - Federer - 6 Wins, 1 runner up, 7 Semi-finals (Note: Djokovic with 6 wins and 3 Quarter finals behind Federer)
French Open - Nadal - 10 Wins
Wimbledon - Federer - 8 Wins, 3 runner-ups
US Open - Sampras - 5 wins, 3 runner-ups (Note: Federer at 5 wins and 2 runner-ups, Connors at 5 wins and 2 runner-ups, both behind Sampras)
WTF - Federer - 6 wins, 4 runner-ups
Indian Wells - Federer - 5 wins, 2 runner-ups (Note: Djokovic at 5 wins and 1 runner-up, slightly behind)
Miami - Agassi - 6 wins, 2 runner-ups (Note: Djokovic at 6 wins and 1 runner-up, slightly behind)
Monte Carlo - Nadal 10 wins, 1 runner-up
Rome - Nadal - 7 wins, 2 runner-ups
Hamburg (until and including 2008)/Madrid Clay (2009 onwards) - Federer 6 wins, 2 runner-ups (note: Nadal 5 wins, 4 runner-ups - very close)
Canadian Open - Lendl - 6 wins, 3 runner-ups
Cincinatti - Federer - 7 wins
Madrid Indoor(until and including 2008)/Shanghai - Murray - 4 wins, 1 runner-up
Paris Indoor - Djokovic - 4 wins
So at the top 14 events we have:
Federer - leading at 6 events
Nadal - leading at 3 events
Djokovic - leading at 1 event
Sampras - leading at 1 event
Lendl - leading at 1 event
Agassi - leading at 1 event
Murray - leading at 1 event
Once Federer wins US Open this year he will lead on 7/14 big events! Undisputed GOAT.
Who cares about 'the full set'. Only greedy fans.
Which of these 14 have the ATG 3 not won?
I know Rafa hasn't won Miami, Paris, Shanghai (although he won this event when it was the Madrid indoors) or WTF
Fed I think still needs Rome & Monte Carlo
Djoker only needs Cincy for the full set - I can't believe he hasn't wont this on his pet surface after being to the final five times.
Seems like Djoker is most likely to get the full set.
