Hi i'm a college student, and my school doesn't have males Tennis team.. sadly...

And i played High school tennis, southern Sectional Div 3 went to finals Twice, play cif individuals made it decently far. and I've beaten a lot of tournament players that are pretty high ranked in doubles and singles, and I've been told by numerous coaches and tourny players that i should continue playing tennis since i was pretty good w.o being a tournament player myself.

So im just curious on where i can go and how, since i have never signed up for usta or ITF. And im hoping someone can lead me to right direction~ =]

Do i sign up for USTA and join Men's Open? ITF or both?

thank you~~

See if your college team has a club team (Tennis on Campus). If not, check with your local community tennis association to see if there is a league in your city/town. Then I would see about joining the local league and playing. As far as your rating, based upon what you have posted, you could fall anywhere between a 3.5 - 4.5 (at least to start out with). You can join a league team, or see about playing either Men's Open or NTRP tournaments.

just google usta tennis link. click on the find a tournament section. put in the closest section to where you live and see what tournaments pop up. try playing an open if you think your pretty good. or you could try 4.5 or something just to test it out.

Not to sound cocky my friend who is a 5.5/6 told me im a 5.0 but 4.5 wouldnt hurt ha

You can look into USTA leagues and play open tournaments if you want to keep plaing recreationally. If your area has a 5.0 league, try that, or if not, join 4.5. If you are seriously considering ITF tournaments, then you need to get a full time coach and basically devote your life to tennis.

here in orange county every tournament has a tiny 5.0 and above draw. the largest draws are the mens singles for open and 4.5. in 4.5 theres good competition because a lot of guys are playing down. and open has the rest of the good players. i think you would be suprised with the level of comp you can find in a 4.5 tourny. in the final rounds of 4.5 theres not much difference to open. i play both, but play 4.5 when its available just to get my moneys worth, cause i can make the finals, but open i usually go out 1st or second round.

Aww okay Thanks for the help =] But i would have to sign up for USTA? And its okay even though im over 18 right?
