Osaka may get a big pay day from Adidas

This is interesting to me since Adidas has Wozniaki, Kerber and Muguruza - all Grand Slam champs - already on their payroll. But I can see also that perhaps Osaka will help them start to make inroads into the Asian markets. But whatever the reason I'm happy for the young champ. I hope she adds more slams to her trophy cabinet.

Osaka, a 20-year-old tennis player, just won the US Open — her first Grand Slam title. She defeated the 23-time major winner Serena Williams in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4, on Saturday at Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York, collecting a $3.8 million paycheck.

But her new deal with Adidas could dwarf her earnings from tennis, The Times reports.

Osaka is reportedly on a "six figure" salary with Adidas that will expire this year."

Man this must be a whirlwind for her, all the sudden a ton of fortune comes to her. I hope her entire family from both sides benefit from these riches.

I think definitely she can help out her sister Mari who is currently traveling on smaller tournaments. Now she can help her hire perhaps a better team and pay for all her travels.

Adidas couldn't even get a new deal with the no. 1 Halep end of last year and she went over to Nike, and considering that Kerber should get more attention, being German, and maybe Woz being blonde. Congratulations to her, it helps that her contract comes to an end, and is up to discussions just after she has won a slam and she is hot property right now. I think she appeals to the youth and emerging Asian tennis market, and maybe even more relatable than some of the current Adidas slam winners. I could see her agent Stuart mentally punching numbers in the player box during the final as the golden goose laid an egg. I really do hope that her parents take good care of her finances and not end up like Sánchez Vicario.

And with all that money she can have as many daughters as she wants in the future.
