You are correct but how were they not able to retain a player such as Roger Federer? Roger has been very commited to the brand for almost 20yrs and he was the face of Nike tennis. Nike should have matched the offer, no?Uniqlo did try.
But we're talking about Nike here. If Nike badly wants a player then they can outbid anyone's offer. And have constantly done so in the past (like when they snatched Serena from Puma or McEnroe from Sergio Tacchini
Seems like Nike loses some great athletes to respresent them, did you know Steph Curry the basketball player from the Golden State Warriors was in the works at one time to represent Nike? They didn't think he was very marketable and wasn't going to give him a very lucrative contract. This prompted Steph to look elswhere and is now with Under Armor. Even Agassi went away to Adidas but has since returned.
