You are correct but how were they not able to retain a player such as Roger Federer? Roger has been very commited to the brand for almost 20yrs and he was the face of Nike tennis. Nike should have matched the offer, no?

Seems like Nike loses some great athletes to respresent them, did you know Steph Curry the basketball player from the Golden State Warriors was in the works at one time to represent Nike? They didn't think he was very marketable and wasn't going to give him a very lucrative contract. This prompted Steph to look elswhere and is now with Under Armor. Even Agassi went away to Adidas but has since returned.

I highly doubt that Naomi cost them anything near what uniqlo is paying Fedr

The coaches who coach for free in exchange for a promise to get paid later are stupid. Get paid for your work now and if your client can't pay don't work for him. I think the father of camilla giorgi also ripped some guys off, getting money promising future shares of prize money.

It shows you a pattern.

Nike basically let go of Federer and Agassi by not willing to outbid anyone else. But the two clearly felt they didn't deserve to be treated this way just cuz they got old so they left in search for better deals elsewhere, dispite being so strongly associated with Nike for so long. They had perhaps hoped for a Jordan treatment but Nike's reaction suggests that only Jordan gets the Jordan treatment.

Osaka delivered two bagels in two matches, I hope she brings it on when playing Bianca in the QFs tomorrow. She started off a bit slow today, before Riske lost her way.
