Whoever wins the Osaka vs. Williams match will be the AO winner.

Great chance Osaka wins this AO again

Osaka now has really risen above the crowd and should be considered the dominator of female tennis.

Yeah so far she was not very consistent and has only made 4 slam QFs in her career but she won the title every time she got there.

She just needs to focus a little more and avoid those frequent early round losses and then she can become one of the best of all time and win 15 slams

Even if she'd lost each QF four would count as a lot, given her age... Or certainly not as little.

She's cementing her presence on hard courts.

She will be greater once she master all four elements.

Osaka broke out in tears in a press conference recently. It seems like she really has some issues with mental health, maybe she should get a medical waiver for press conferences.

I would be curious about the role of her family. I know this might be a bit of a stereotype (the extreme pressure Asian tiger mom) but many tennis parents (not just Asian ones) tie showing affection to their kid winning and make their kids live miserable, as Andre wrote in his book too.

Her mom definitely looks like a pushy helicopter mom, maybe Osaka needs a bit more distance from her

I don't see the connection to her mom, but I think she needs to invest in a quality shrink soon or this will start affecting her game as well. Whoever she's seeing currently isn't getting it done.

(People will say it's staged) She sort of asked her mom whether what he achieved so far is good enough and her mom said more than enough (I think this is after USO 2019).

She might cried because of Haiti tho (Regarding press con).

I just saw the WTA rank and realized Osaka is on 71, OMG !!! Is she out of competition? Can we write off her as top player? I thought she is a material of at least 8-12 slams but looking at her extra affairs not much interested in Tennis.

She just got awarded a WC into IW. Just saw the announcement spammed into my mailbox. There were no way to give feedback tho…

She has generally been maintaining way too light schedules. And it's started to catch up with her. If she does badly at IW/Miami, she might drop further down the rankings given that she has been a non factor on clay and grass.

He probably preferred fulltime employment.

I bet.
This could be good thing for Naomi as well, hopefully the new coach will enforce her to do full time, less drama, and just work and win as she should be!
Would love to see her dad back to put Naomi back in gear. She went to Japan just before supposed comeback in San Jose, so it's bit worrying as a fan.

I think Naomi’s family and agent have been doing her a disservice for a long time by not telling her the truth. She needs a psychiatrist like yesterday. Being a young multi-millionaire is not easy on anyone and clearly her success has negatively affected her too. She’s probably completely emotionally stunted and has no idea how to take control of her life. I would love to see her back on top - she still has the talent. She just needs some direction if she’s going to keep playing.

Didn't she talk about the fact that she'd started seeing a therapist this year? Around Indian Wells IIRC.

Now, that doesn't mean that her problems are solved, but at least she was working on it. But really, to get back to the top in tennis, the fact is that she needs to commit to playing more tournaments again. And I don't know if she's prepared to do that.
