So, her game is stronger but the mentality in her losses has been poor. I’ll give her another year bc the Townsend/Boisson losses was classic young player overawed by crowd and moment type thing.

But if she follows this year up with another dud in the late stages of a Slam I’ll start to lose hope. The FH just isn’t there the way it needs to be, and I’m starting to get Zverev PTSD. But more talented than Rune for sure.

The man has a point. Excuse me for not being a true tennis fan and not getting excited about another intriguing Djokovic vs Fritz encounter. etc. Yeah, I'm picking out one match, but the overall tennis vibe.

I disagree that Sabalenka is a serious stepdown in quality. Her game is really good and she's shown in the last couple of years that's she's willing to work hard and make much needed improvements to take her game to the next level. Her big problem is that she's a headcase in big matches and sadly I can see the same thing happening to her tomorrow.

Let's not get too far ahead of ourselves. Yes, Osaka was in complete control and looked totally dominant yesterday. OTOH, she's had some amazing performances since her comeback and followed them up with poor performances. Overall, she hasn't won a title since February 2021. I could easily see her winning this tournament or falling short once again.

As the Canadian Open final and last night's semifinal show, Osaka is close to getting back to the top of the mountain, but still not quite there yet.

If the top of the WTA becomes a mix of a Sabalenka, Swiatek, Anisimova and Osaka I feel that is legit, consistent quality. You also have a very young Andreeva who I believe will eventually figure it out, she's uber talented not to.
