she was wailing on the ball. crazy number of unforced errors, but it didnt matter. im still tryin to figure out if she won or halep lost it. either way, same result ...

Its not that hard to figure out. Osta blew her off the court with winners. Watch match point for example.

What about the Steam 96? If you look at pics/video from when she was a junior, and won Wimbledon (ca 2014), the pj is a steam 96. Back then string pattern was 16X18, and at RG this year it was 16x20, but Wilson used to sell both versions... What do you think?

Do you see a PWS on her current (2017) racquet ???????
No need to get all '???????' aka 'are you stupid'. LOL no. Tbh I overlooked that, I just figured that whatever racquet she used from the same maker that served her well is likely to still be the one, or at least similar to one she is using today

So I guess we can settle that it highly likely is a customized Steam frame, right?

This is a meaningless stat as it doesn't factor in how much spin being put on the ball, or the weight of the incoming ball. Men play with much more spin and margin in-general and rallys are more cat & mouse in nature because there are fewer easy openings to unload (mainly because men defend so much better than women).

File this factoid alongside Serena hitting harder serves than David Ferrer. Any woman on tour would do better with Ferrer's second serve than Serena's. The speed comparison is about as useful by itself as comparing who hits the slowest drop shot.

Not very, a faster ball means less chance your opponent able to get his/her racket on it, sometimes 2cm matters. Her fast balls brought her RG trophy btw.

It’s crazy that a pro player would be using a racquet that has no pallet. I wonder if David Ferrer is using this mold as well (Blade Team 99 or Blade 101L).

I don't find these doping insinuatings very funny nor appropriate at all.
And there are some more famous female players with more mucles. So we could discuss that or their gear?

There is another thread I think that has a stringer's proof it is the 101L. At least that is what my brain is choosing to remember.

Which thread?

I have racquet which is not STEAM100 or BLADE 101L and could be probably same as she play with. I could post more, but first I would like to check thread with proof that it is 101L.

Thanks.

I saw a touring pro in the security line on my flight back from Miami last week with a stack of rackets with the same PJ in Wilson Labs racket bags. Definitely a new prototype under test.

Steam 100 with new paintjob most likely

99% sure her same steam 100 18x20 with the rubber grey grommets at the bottom of the head

I think the new PJ is pretty cool tbh

If all of you werent that blnded by two blond babes, than maybe you could try actual count her strings (of her racquet that is). Then you notice that its 16x20 so you are completely wrong. Dont tell me Wilson has made her a personalized with 16x20 because that extremely expensive to do for a player who isnt even top 10.
Her strings looks white so probably no 4g anymore?

I meant 16x20 mybad

Not sure why you're acting salty lol. Hardly "blinded" just a typo.

I own this pro stock steam 16x20. This looks similiar no?

@TforTommy

on another thread it was mentioned that she has been using the steam100, 16/20, but that the wilson blade101 is also similar
on page 1 of this thread, someone posted pics, there are a couple pics of the two racquets
i also think the prototype paint-job you posted , looks awesome, haaa
wilson will provably paint it to look like the new blades coming latter this year

It's not a new racquet, just a paint job. "BOLD" line. All current frames with the B&W PJ:
The “BOLD” black and white design will include signature rackets from several of Wilson’s core franchises including:
  • Pro Staff 97L (USD $249.00)
  • Blade 98S ($229.00)
  • Ultra 100L (USD $199.00)
  • Ultra 26 ($89.00)

Correct and they're almost indistinguishable from one another from a distance due to the only differences being the Wilson lettering. Ostapenko is playing a Steam 100 under the new Bold cosmetic.

Just saw the 3 BOLD frames. They are the Pro Staff 97L, Ultra 100L and Blade 98L. I think similar frames to the Camo frames. Very limited run.

There were at least three different ladies at the Volvo Car Open yesterday using Wilson frames with the new "Bold" graphics.

There will be men and women on the tour using the BOLD graphics as there was with the camo and reverse graphics. I highly doubt Federer will use it.

haa, agree,,

I think fed. said he could not play with the black/white rf racquet because it bothered him while it swung through the air,, or something like that
this bold model would freak him out, haaaa

cant blame Wilson for "not trying",
first we had the REVERSE paint jobs
second we had the CAMO versions
now we have the BOLD versions

and Wilson its not the only one
babolat has similar attempts with the LIMITED EDITION paint jobs

Agreed. Do the L versions really sell that well?
not really, but kids seem to be the ones gravitating to these new painjobs!, and making their parents buy for them, every iteration of the same racquet; i think another poster mentioend how he saw this first hand @Herb ,, maybe??
wilson does know who to target
they make good stuff and fun stuff for the kiddies, haa
ill personally buy it if i like it that much, otherwise, ill take a picture and move on, haaa

I can share my experience and I am sure others probably have the same in their areas. Talking about juniors only there are four groups.

Group 1: kids and parents that just do not know. They will play with any racquet, if they have more than one typically they are different racquets. I get several kids from private schools that fall into this category. They really are not into tennis, and play just for the credit to graduate. Typically these kids never play after high school unless it is at the private club with their friends and family. I would say that these are your JV and middle school players.

Group 2: kids and parents that know a little, but are always looking for something better. Several kids around always get the newest thing on the market. Switch brands and models at least yearly, some switch every semester. Anything released with a gimmick will be in their bag until the next gimmick comes out. I would guess that these are your upper JV lower varsity players.

Group 3: kids and parents that know more than average. They find a racquet they like and replace them at the end of the school year with the latest model and PJ of the same racquet. They like to start the new school year with the newest model of their favorite racquet. I would say These are your middle and up varsity players. Some will move on to play college, some don't. I would guess about 50-60% of high school players. This is who racquet manufacturers are marketing.

Group 4: kids and parents that know. They find a racquet they like and stick with it. These are typically the better players that go on to higher level tennis. When the model is discontinued they hit the bay and start buying them up so they always have that racquet. They usually stock up on grommet sets also. I string for a couple that still play with the 2013 Aero Pro. They are playing in college, and their parents pick racquets up off the bay whenever they see them pop up. Had to string a couple this weekend for one of them. Kid broke a couple, so dad brought me a couple he had bought, had me string them so he couple ship them out to the kid. Typically these are your upper level varsity players that move on to college.
