Our own music thread

I figured we might as well have our own music thread. This way, we won't have to have all the old people saying things like the beach boys and other old, old music that they like :D

Try and keep this to just a posting bands you really like right now or are sick of....keep the flaming to a minimum. Just want to hear what people are listening to so we can maybe hear some new stuff.

I'll start off with:

My Chemical Romance-The Black Parade: love this album, played it at a pretty big new years party and people really liked it. Doesn't really get old, either.

I'm pretty much done with all rap. I mean it's okay every now and then, but jeez, enough is enough.

Right now I like a lot of the alternative and electronic stuff out like Artic Monkeys. But there's still room in my playlist for things like The Clash, The Ramones, Jimi.

Switchfoot is in town soon...doing a show at a local club. Might go see them, wolfmother came to the same place a few weeks ago.

Maybe I should check out the new sf album...

Been lately listening to a lot of music from Iceland ( Mum, Apparat Organ Quartet, Sigur Ros and Bjork of course) and a lot of electronica( Royksopp, Fischerspooner).

I could name it, but it would take a long time. I'll start with Josh Pyke, the guy is a genius.

Big, big former Orbital and Underworld fan... and I am not even in Europe, where they mostly played their concerts. Of course I've got all of their albums. I also liked other types of intelligent electronica. Also, former collector of Global Underground – heavy duty clubish electronica. But nowadays I prefer the calmer sounds of ambient, new age, chill-out and a doze of good old classic Baroque: Bach, Vivaldi and Handel.

Kings of Convenience, Sigur Ros, The Decemberists, G Love, Phoenix, Pete Yorn, Muse, Less Than Jake etc..

I have a pretty wide range but I can't stand rap or techno. Country also sucks:p

Glad to see some other people like The Decemberists!

My favorite band at the moment is Protest the Hero. Their album Kezia is like Federer on grass.

I youtube'ed them and listed to the song 'Blindfolds Aside'. I was pretty impressed, how does that song stack up to the rest of the album?

I'm still stuck in the 80's for the most part but I like a lot of electronic music. I don't know artists and titles for the most part but anything that DJ armin van buuren, Ferry Corsten, or DJ's of that sort put out. I'm just too lazy to look up names these days.

Im a real big alternative fan but can't quite find a style to suit me. At the moment I just pick up whatever I find. Arctic Monkeys, the killers, that new MCR cd is quite good, and the OK Go cd is pretty alright. I used to be a huge fan of The Mars Volta but I can't really get into their new records. Deloused in the Comatorium is still one of the best cds I have. If you don't mind concept albums then pick this one up for sure. Tells an interesting story, if you can get through all the interpretation.
