Out of Ideas on what to try next

Any comments on the the Graphene 360 + Prestige MP? That one looks like it could be right up my alley. 98, 18x20, around 340 strung and pretty head light and low flex

Quick update:

Got my Ezone Tour with leather grip in, only got to hit a few mins but it has promise. Definitely a hefty stick at 342g strung, but still about 6.5 pts HL.

Curious how you do with the EZT during match play. I think in stock form it would be very sluggish...although I haven't hit with it yet. The leather grip may be the game changer...let us know how you do with it.

Alternatively, reading through your thread....may wanna try the 2021 Radical Pro. It's decently headlight with a good static weight on it and modifiable. Mine weighs 343g modded with silicone in the butt end handle, some lead at 12, OG, dampener. 6/7pts HL still. Can swing for the fences with good control

I'll check out the new radical pro, I typically don't love 16x19 but can get away with it if it's a tighter pattern with 8 in the mains like EZT. I was thinking the Prestige MP might be my cup of tea on the Graphene 360+ generation. 98, 18x20, low flex/thin beam and in my typical weight range.

I demoed this a couple months back. Great control on this racquet. I would give Prince Tour 95 or Phantom 97p a demo.

I owned the old 2015 Prince TT95, liked it quite a bit but ultimately just couldn't get used to the string pattern in tight match situations. How do you compare the Prestige MP to the VCP HD?

The saga continues....

Since the last update I tried the VCP HD 18x20 again with a few different string setups, still didn't like it even though the specs are darn near perfect on paper but it just doesn't work for me (I'll never learn), this one went to live with Taydbear7 funny enough! Also tried an Ezone tour with a leather grip, it was not bad but still too sluggish and felt a little stiff surprisingly so I sold it. I was surprised how different the tour felt from the regular ezone.

I just bought a Vcore Pro 97 330 and hit it once, feels pretty good. It's 350 strung with overgrip and dampener and really doesn't feel hard to swing at all, probably due to the 7 HL balance. It hits a heavy serve, very plush and powerful feeling surprisingly with 18G hyper G at 45, almost too much power and slightly too high of a launch angle. I will try the same string at 48 next time.

I also have a Graphene 360+ Prestige MP coming (98 sq inch 18x20, low RA) and a Blade Pro Labs 18x20 coming with leather grip and some putty in the handle to get it to about 345 grams and 8 HL. Will report back soon.

^^^ Not sure if I wrote it in this thread but I'm liking the VCP HD better each time out with it. At first I didn't like during hitting session. The one I bought from you I cut the strings out and put a FB of Velocity. I'm not crazy about that setup. I bought another one and it had Solinco Confidential in it and I like that a lot. I'm about to cut out Velocity and put a FB of Volkl Cyclone Tour in it.

I demo the 360+ MP and Pro a while back. I think you will like the MP. The control on it was fantastic. I do remember the launch angle was pretty low on it. Have you tried VCore 98 or 98+? I have the 98+ and like that one a lot too. Don't you also have the new Vcore 95?

Glad you're enjoying the HD. When they announced it in 2019 I was drooling, I love Yonex and I love 18x20 control sticks with low RA's and thin beams. I'm not sure what about it doesn't click with me but it just doesn't. I haven't owned a VC98 but have hit one before and the + version. I guess the main thing I didn't like was the 16x19 string pattern. Also the head looks a little large, I'm used to 95ish sq inch heads. I do own the 2021 VC95 and really like that stick, I just wish it had a tiny bit more of free power but it is ultra maneuverable and has great control.

The VCP97 310 is worth a look. Although it’s 16x19, it is quite a dense pattern. You could also add heavy replacement grip (wilson shock shield/leather) to tail weight it and then maybe 1-2g at 10/2 if you need a beefier frame...could also add some strips of lead tape to grip as well. I use stock but with Wilson shock shield grip that comes out to ~342g; great control. Actually contemplating making the switch to Babolat Pure Strike 98 16x19...comes out to 334g with wilson shock shield grip and my arm much appreciates the lightness + easy pop/soft feel. Babolat did a great job with the 3rd gen update. Bigger sweetspot is also much more forgiving for me. (I was not good enough to consistently find sweetspot in vcp97 even as 4.5 level hard hitting baseliner) Might just have to save my VCP97s for my best days. OP said he likes dense patterns but uses 18g string...an alternative could be 16x19 with 16/16L strings. I like 16x19 patterns with 8 main throats such as VCP97, v7 blade, pure strike but VCP97 seems a bit too tight for me...pure strike feels just right.

Got the Prestige MP G360+ in and love it. Great all around stick, very maneuverable, decent power, very point and shoot with lots of pinpoint accuracy. This one could be a contender to be my main match racquet. It plays similar to my 320/9lts HL TC97 18x20 but less stiff and a little less powerful.

I also got the Blade Pro 18x20 in, hit for 5 mins and knew it wasn't for me. Still sluggish even with a leather grip and tail weighted with 12 grams of tungsten putty in the trap door. Luckily my friend loved it so I sold it to him on the spot.

I've come to realize I like testing new racquets almost as much as playing tennis. I know what I typically like and out of ideas on what to try next. I think the 2021 Vcore 95 is going to be my new permanent match racquet for USTA (mostly doubles) but looking for ideas on what to try next. I typically like 95-98 sq inch racquets with thin, flexible beams, 7+ strung HL balance and tight string patterns. A little free power would be nice but I typically string mid to high 40's with a 18G hyper G.

I'll list the stuff that I've used recently and still keep in the bag and looking for some ideas of racquets I may not have thought of to try next. I haven't really looked at Head since the original Graphene line was a bust or other smaller companies like Technifibre.

Still in the bag:

Angell TC95 63 RA 18x20 - Great singles stick, lots of power, very head light, kind of heavy for doubles.
Angell TC97 18x20 - Similar to TC95, bit less power than TC95, bit stiffer
Angell K7 Lime - Good all around stick, less power than TC frames, more forgiving head size, good feel and flexy
Yonex Vcore 95 2021 - Just did the TW playtest (thanks again TW!) Loved it just like I liked my 2018 Vcore 95's which are going to a friend's bag

Tried recently but gone:

Blade V7 18x20 - Liked the power and feel but too sluggish for me, not head light enough wish they had a 7+ pts HL strung version, mine was 2 pts HL strung.
Vcore 95 2018 - Liked these but replaced by 2021 version
Vcore Pro 97 HD - Was hoping I'd love this since it's 18x20 but felt a bit sluggish similar to the Blade
Ezone 98 2018 (green) - Good all around, bit light, 16x19 string pattern wasn't the best for me, tended to hit with too much top spin and not drive the ball with my natural flatter swing.

I'm thinking about trying the Ezone Tour (wish it was 18x20), can the Blade Pro lab be setup with a more head light balance like a pro stock or are they also head heavy? Any other idea on racquets I might like?

For me playing mostly dubs as well at a high level, I also love sticks with great control and some added pop when needed without mid to lower range launch angle . This way you get a good serve and easily can whip a top spin to clear the net and dip to one's feet. My 2 recs are Prince 03 Beast 98 and Head Graphene 360+ extreme tour
