Overhitting ~3in baseline shots

Evidently I keep overhitting baseline shots by 3 or so inches (or my opponent is lying to me because from my POV they are hitting the line). This happens on my forehand only. Any suggestions?

As I was advised myself recently, it's simple! Hit through the ball more and stop brushing up and getting under it quite so much.

I think he wants to hit less deep.

Basically more topspin. Just brush the ball more and a little less of swinging through it. Incorporating a lower follow through with more of a windshield wiper may help you.

What does that mean?

And if I am certain on how to apply more topspin, it's hitting the ball at an angle closer to the top of the racquet rather than center, correct?

Make sure you are bending your knees and staying low. I was haivng all sorts of problems with my forehand and i made that one simple change where i conciously kept my knees at about a 65 degree bend and i am really nailing my forehands now with power and accuracy. HUGE difference!

A number of things could be the problem. I could be simply that you are overhitting.

Bring down your forehand stroke to 80% power. Keep it between the service line and the baseline. Learn to move the ball around.

Hey BB, glad you responded. What would be good angles to post my forehand shots so I could get a better opinion?

(N.B. I can move the ball around the court, it's just when I go for hard baseline shots when I'm around the middle, I overhit, otherwise, they end up on the right side of the corners, or an extreme angle shot into the sidelines).

I would have to say, you need more topspin. Either that or your going to have to slow your stroke down and get the timing right. Its one of those two. I would consdier starting over and seeing whats going wrong. Plus may I ask, is there any specific shot they are hitting at you that is causing this?
