Overlooked strings that are gems

Are you using a string that performs really well in a specific context but seems to be flying under the radar for most people? If so, what is it, and who should use it?

For me, that string is Prince Warrior Response. It is a great cross for people that want to use a gut/poly, syn gut/poly, or multi/poly hybrid and want to maximize the arm-friendliness of the crosses. YMMV, but I think it is even more arm friendly that cream. It is also currently relatively inexpensive.

Technifibre black code I’d say is quite overlooked - you rarely see it talked about by string reviewers but it’s got amazing control, comfort, spin, feel and tension maintenance

BITD a buck a set during HH

It's 1.23mm from edge to edge. 1.15mm from flat side to side... I use it in my gravity pro n ezone cause of the closed string pattern. A third the price of other strings that come out same factory in Taiwan. 10% prestretch the 1.20mm MSV +38 and +25 strings for more open patterns.... those strings measure 1.20 - 1.28mm....

Wilson Synthetic Gut Power is a very soft, comfortable string that allows nice dwell time. And very inexpensive.
Yep and quite powerful too.

It has replaced my usual/trusty Angell Halo Multi recently. Am in the process to dial in the “right” tension setup for me on a pair of Wimby Pure Strikes….. been fun with good comp match results so far, even with a pair of VCore100 2021s. lol

Oehms Alu Pearl Rough 1.25
Dyreex Super Tour 1.25
Stringlab Hydrogex Revo Hex 1.26 (now playing, seems to be playing like Hyper G withought being so underpowered and as "plasticky")
Mayami Big Spin x Tour Hex hybrid
LTec Premium Meteor Pro 1.25

Pros pro eruption mains and Zarsia round poly 008 cross. Stiff mains, elasticky soft round crosses. you can get both reels combined for under 100. If anyone has those 2 and a stringing machine, try it out.

Currently using Kirschbaum Proline II. It's incredibly comfortable, has great tension maintenance, pockets unbelievably well, and comes very cheap. It's a dead feeling slick round poly that makes for a great cross string or in a full bed softens up harsher frames like traditional Babolats.
I've been using Proline Evolution for a few weeks while recovering from TE, and it's been great. Soft, accurate, great tension maintenance. Would recommend to anyone looking for a control-oriented soft poly.

Head Lynx (regular)
Big Banger Original (people think it's an "old" poly, whatever that means)

Also like every 1.20 or lower poly string. Everyone thinks they need a 17 or 16g...you don't you probably don't break it anyway and just cut it out.

MSV hex soft is legit. Just got a 1.15 blue to try soon. Been using the 1.20 black for a while now.
1.20mm yellow hex soft with a smooth round poly cross worked best in my aero98...yellow has amazing power n spin really needs like revolve cross or msv cofocus to tame the power

Cool… I was just going to ask if anyone tried the black. Yellow was great but then when I looked to order a reel couldn’t find it anywhere… black seems to be easily available.

Prince Warrior Response
Very similar to Head Lynx Touch 16, for nearly one-third the price. Good string in the right application (mainly as a hybrid cross). (y)

Edit for clarity -- it's not the same string, but very close.

This is my experience, too. Recently I’ve really liked Tourna Big Hitter Black 7 1.2 mm. I tried 1.3 mm previously and thought it felt too stiff and dead. The 18g feels just right to me, though. Still lasts me ~7 hours before it breaks.

does anyone else agree it's the same?
After deeper research, my apologies, they're not the same extrusion. Lynx Touch is made in Taiwan. Warrior Response is made in Japan (probably by Toalson, if I had to guess). Very similar strings, but not identical.

The structure and color certainly look similar, but I have wondered how similar the materials are. The interior of Warrior Response is elastomer, but I am not sure what is inside Lynx Touch (which I have not tried). Warrior Response also does not feel to me like it is as stiff as twu rates lynx touch, but perhaps it is. In reviews, Harrier Response (Japanese version of Warrior Response) also rates very highly for spin in a full bed until it notches, whereas Lynx Touch did not do particularly well in terms of spin in the tw reviews. too little info to draw any conclusions, but I would be curious to hear if someone has played both side by side.

Try the blue and get back to us asap...racket n string tension?
I mostly use the black as a main with a round cross- usually poly tour pro or Ghostwire. I have used it FB and it’s great there too. Tension is 45-48 depending. Frame- you’ll find me in the holic thread for that.

A friend had told me once that an ex-Prince employee had moved to Head some good years ago. I think he was talking about the Head Lynx Touch string being the same or almost the same as a string from the Prince lineup.

Have you tried white msv hex soft?
