Overwhelmed with multi string selection for new racquet

I'm a ~3.0 player and about to order a Prince Textreme Tour 100T. I'm looking for a good all around multi that is comfortable, not too powerful nor mushy that has decent properties to help me develop my control and topspin. From what I've seen I should start with a 17g as I doubt I'll be hitting hard enough to break strings any time soon. Some of the choices that appear to be suitable (in no particular order):

Babolat xcel
Prince Premier (power, touch or control ?)
Volkl Power Fiber II
Volkl v-feel
Technifibre NRG2

I don't want to overthink this and just want to make a choice that will be suited to my level and racquet.

Would you recommend any of these or perhaps others?

Technifibre X1 Bi Phase is my favorite. Super soft and plush, good power but decent control and still has spin when you want it.

Thanks. I also spoke with someone at TW who recommended NRG2 from the ones I was considering. I told him I was not an exoerienced player and want to develop better control. He suggested having the racquet strung 1-2lb higher than midrange.

I ordered the racquet with NRG2 17g @ 55lb (midrange+2) but they are a couple days behind in stringing orders so I would have time to change it.

NRG2 is a nice string for flatter hitters. It is awful for spin production but doesn't sound like that will be an issue for you.

While developing spin is something I want to work at, I am not at the point where I need to do anything more than learn the fundamentals.

And just to note, one poster above mentioned they like bi phase for spin and in your post you mention NRG2 is poor for spin, yet TW playtesters rate NRG2 higher than bi phase for spin production. I'm not challenging anyones input but I guess I'm just saying that everyone needs to try out different products and come to their own conclusions of what works for them or not.

Biphase is not bad for spin but the power level is high which may or may not be good for your game. I also used NRG2 in 16g, I'm not sure what gauge the TW playtesters used. I'm not in the business of selling string and they are so keep that in mind as well.

I've seen NRG2 is one of the more popular multis - and one of the more expensive ones too, so point well taken. Honestly at this advanced beginner / early intermediate stage I'm not sure what my game is, which is why I am looking for a good all purpose string and see where my development takes me. I do know enough that my control needs work so I dont want anything overly powerful which seems to be a main characteristic of biphase.

I chose the Textreme 100T (I see you have its predecessor) for the same reason. I like the feel and it suits my swing better than anything else I demoed - comfortable, well balanced and power on tap, but very manageable. And I'm hoping as I improve I can grow more into it.

Thanks again.

NRG2 is pretty powerful as well. Prince Premiere Control is really right in the middle of multis. It does most things well and is cheaper than those other strings. I've tried a few multis in the past :)

Let me know what you think of the PPC in it. I also just switched to the TT100t and I'm still trying strings. I've got Gosen Tecgut Remplir in it now, and it's nice and super comfortable, but maybe a little too muted for this frame. PPC is on my list along with Tourna Quasi Armor and Isospeed Energetic +.

The things I like about PPC are that it does not fray, holds tension well, gives me 40 hours of great play. If it could only control my forehand to hit spin!!!

I too would pick PPC (PPA). I strung it up high first time around and with the lower power I had to swing out which in itself produced some nice topspin.

Does it have to be a multi? How about just good old PSGD? Meets all your requirements and is a fraction of the price of those...

NRG2 is a great string. It is one of my favorite multis. In a 100" head, I would go with 16G instead of 17G personally but I am sure you will like the NRG2. Mikeler is the multi epxert but I don't agree with his assessment about lack of spin with NRG2. I get good spin with NRG2 and find it very comparable to other multis.

I was impressed enough with Mikeler's recap of his multi experience that I changed the order to PPC. I'm *maybe* a 3.0 player and am able to generate enough pace myself, but I dont want to be overhitting with a string I may not be able to control. From what I've learned on this thread (primarily from Mikeler) the bi phase would fall into that category, NRG2 also might but PCC is more middle of the road.

When you say not too powerful or mushy the first thing that comes to mind for me is you are capable of producing your own power. If I were you I would try RIP Control. My second choice (for you) would be Multifeel in 16 gauge.

Thanks for the other viable options. With so many good choices but only 1 racquet to string, I've got to start somewhere and have landed on PPC. If it turns out to not be the right choice for me I'll keep those in mind for my next restringing

Well, the Gosen Remplir popped on me last night. I only got about 15 hours out of it. I've been getting around 30 hours from PPA in an Aeropro GT. Since this is a new racquet for me I don't know if the 15 hours was because the Gosen is that much less durable than PPA, or if the more open pattern of the TT 100t is that much harder on strings.

The Remplir got pretty harsh and tinny feeling for about a set before breaking. So you can't say it didn't give me a warning.

Next up, Tourna Quasi Armor.
