Haas is the favourite in this match and I can understand why... it looks like Gonzalez no longer sports the form that helped him CRUSH the German at the AO with the loss of only 5 games. Haas in three sets... although I'm not even too confident Gonzalez will win a set.

The only thing is that Haas has had an exceptionally favorable draw to get to this match, while Gonzo had faced a strong challenge from a rising star in Soderling. Perhaps the adversity in the previous round will prove to be strengthening for Gonzo?

Gonzalez went to another planet in their Australian Open encounter. That cant happen in every match. So how will Gonzalez match up with Haas if he simply plays a very good match. Hopefully both guys play very well and we will see. Gonzo in 3.

Hantuchova/Peer went for over 2 and a half hours. We used to think Rafa took too much time between serves. He can learn something from Daniela about that. Currently 9:30 Indian Wells time and Haas/Gonzo just started. No TV. Phooey! One of the best match-ups in the tourney.

Hey, ESPN. Drop tennis coverage and give it back to the "Tennis Channel".

old gonzalez is coming back - rather erratic performance. sparks of brilliance mixed with a lot of unforced errors.

I disagree about this being the "old" Gonzalez. I think he's playing at a pretty decent level; unfortunately, he ran into Tommy Haas playing about as well as he can. I'm enjoying this match quite a bit, because both players are showcasing some excellent shot-making.
