Sam Querrey just won his first pro match. He was slated to play Taylor Dent, who would probably have won, but Dent pulled out and he played Bobby Reynolds. He won his first match in a Master Series. That is so cool. He will still be playing for Thousand Oaks (CA) High School this year.

To all those who think Donald Young is the next big player, take a look at this big serving redhead.

Looks like Sam plays James Blake next. He'll get schooled and i'll be watching live.

Querry started out big, swinging for winners and hitting aces as Blake was sorta sleeping the first set and lost 6-1. Blake came out with his big game in the 2nd set and Sam got tentative, hoping Blake would continue to make unforced errors, NOT likely, 6-1 Blake ! Blake continue to school Sam, by moving him around and hitting to the open court. Querry atleast held a few serves and showed a little more of his 1st set potential.

I was really impressed with Querry's game, but his court mvmt needs alot of work, or he should start playing an allcourt game and serve/volley. The kid is 6'6" and he not going to beat many of the top ATP guys from the baseline. I was really dissapointed that Sam did not go more more big hits in the 2nd & 3rd set, but rather started rolling more topspin groundies around midcourt.

If he could play more like the 1st, then he could continue to play with the big boys, otherwise it looks like he maybe playing at USC.

Looks like Stepanek just got served up a beat down with a side of *** whoopin! Xavier is playing some pretty good tennis. Lets see how well he does in the next one.

Schuettler is losing this match due to horrible line calls. This is just as bad and unfair as Sharapova's loss to Henin at the AO. I can't wait for electronic line call challenges in Miami.

Schuettler got screwed out of the first set but had chances in the third. 4-3, two break points. Then with Hewitt serving for the match at 5-4, 30-all, second serve, Schuettler sends the return long. A match of missed opportunites for Rainer. Had he held the break in the first set he may have won in straights.

Still, Schuettler played very well and could make it back into the Top 50 and perhaps higher with a few solid results. His problem, though, is his ranking. He'll get these match-ups in the first and second rounds in tournaments until he he wins a few more rounds. Perhaps a confidence boost for Miami though.

As for Hewitt, his first serve went AWOL most of the match and his forehand was inconsistent. He'll need to clean it up if he's going to keep winning.

Yes Hewitt is finished he is 25 and just won his first (second) round match and just got to two finals obviously playing nowhere near his best...he's finished all right. And on another note Henman holding his own against Berdych..wish he would come in a bit more though that's the way he'll win this match, if Berdych keeps passing him with the on the run shots then just too good but he won't be able to do it the entire match.

Drysdale said earlier today that after Hewitt's match, they were going to broadcast Dementieva's match but of course, espn has broken another promise to show wta matches.

Mirza with the upset first set win but espn only showed us Henman losing to Berdych. Brilliant. Let's show a far less interesting, less skillful ATP match featuring Henman over the WTA. That's what espn always thinks and does.

What does everyone think about these matches tonight?

Ferrero-Srichaphan
Haas-Agassi
Robredo-Blake
-most interested in this, Blake is a slight favorite, Robredo beat him easily on a slow hardcourt in Australia, it's supposedly slow court in Indian Wells. It's cold & windy there today, so even slower conditions.

I don't know if it's so much the court as it is Blake's head, he seems to play 200% better when in America so I'm taking Blake. Agassi is most likely losing to Haas if he doesn't get his act together FAST and haven't really seen the other two play well for a while so that one is up for grabs.
