Pacific rackets - share your experiences

The only one I know a bit is the X Force Pro (a fantastic frame I unfortunately let go a little too quickly... wish I'd experimented with strings/tensions.) But as for Pacific's other frames, I know very little indeed.

So I'm interested in how the Pacific range differ from one-and-other.

Have to say though, for solidness and feel, and build quality and being on spec, the X Force Pro was superb. Think a slightly easier to use, slightly more forgiving frame by them might be a good fit for my requirements.

Anyhow, Pacific frames - anyone care to share their experiences...

I also use the X Force Pro strung with Solnico Tour Bite 19ga. I absolutely love the frame, but can't compare it to any other Pacific frame. The X Feel looks interesting.

Had a chance to try the X Feel Pro 90 and it was awesome. Every bit as comfortable as the original, but with slightly more power. Hard to think the Fischer feel could be replicated, but they did. Now, the pj is nowhere as cool, nut the quality is there.

So, lets start with the X Force Line...

The X Force and the X Force Pro (16x20) are from the Fischer 2nd generation Pro Number One mold that started with the Pro Number One FT (note the throat):

However, the X Force Pro (18x20) and X Force Lite are from the original VT98 mold (again, note the throat):

I hit with Fischer's last "US" iteration of the Pro No 1, the M-Pro No 1 (Green & Yellow), and moved to the X Force Pro (16x20) shortly thereafter. The main difference between the two being the X Force Pro was slightly stiffer. But in reality, this was Fischer's last "European" iteration of the Pro No 1, the M-Pro No 1 'Black Granite', re-painted with Pacific graphics:

FBGN1L-1.JPG

I used the X Force Pro for two years. This frame & I just clicked. Power when I needed it, but great control & feel. It took me a while to get used to the tapered beam, but once I did, it was possibly the best frame I'd hit with. Even now that I'm using the VCORE Tour 97, a part of me remembers the shots I hit with the X Force Pro and wants to return to it. Must...resist....urge...

If the VCORE Tour 97 doesn't work out for me, my first stop along the road will be the X Force Lite modded with lead to bring it to 320g with a balance of 320mm, ala X Force Pro...

Prior to my Pro No 1/X Force usage, I played with the M-Comp 95 for ~ 3 years. I loved this frame, and probably would not have gone away from it except they stopped making grommets for them (Pacific was slow in releasing replacement grommets). This frame had everything I wanted: Control, Feel, truly one of the lowest powered frames I had ever used. I felt that if I could keep it inside the sidelines, it was never going out.

Like the Pro No 1, Fischer released the 'Black Granite' version in Europe only:

FBGC95L-1.JPG

I never hit with the 'Black Granite' version, but I did demo the X Feel Pro 95 when it came out, and like the M-Pro No 1/X Force line, it was slightly stiffer than it's predecessor, the M-Comp 95. Further research showed the X Feel Pro 95 to be a 'paint job' of the Black Granite M-Comp, just like the X Force Pro.

Why they took so long releasing it I have no idea...

The X Feel Tour is effectively the Fischer Black Granite Tour Lite. For some reason, Pacific did not feel it was necessary to produce the Black Granite Tour 'regular'. And, like all the other 'Black Granite' versions, they were slightly stiffer than their predecessors (the Magnetic Tour, in this case).

Many of the girls on the high school team I coach use this frame, and the love it. There is also a 4.0 guy I hit with regularly, and he has two of these.

In my opinion, with the right amount of weight added (and in the correct places), this could play like a lower powered Babolat Pure Storm Tour, but with the Fischer feel added in. If you like to tinker, this is a nice frame to mess with.

The X Fast Pro is the only frame I'm aware of that Pacific has produced 'new'. I've hit with this, and wasn't all that impressed. However, I'm not a fan of the Pure Drive line, and I'm pretty sure that is what they were going with: A 'Pure Drive' clone that had the 'Fischer feel'. They might have produced just that, but it's not for me.

McLovin

Legend
Also note that the X Force Pro (18x20) and X Force Lite do NOT have the 'No Tolerance' guarantee. Not sure why that is, because you would think that 'No Tolerance' had to do with the build process and not the mold, but the X Force frames from the original VT98 mold don't have that guarantee.

I don't know much about the X Feel Vacuum Pro 90 as I've never hit with it or it's predecessor, the Fischer Vacuum Pro 90. For some reason, mids & I don't mix. The M-Comp 95 is the smallest headsize I've used, and think even going back to that would be a problem for me. 97-98 seems to be the right fot for me.

Back in the late 90s I remember hitting w/ one of the older versions (not sure which), and I remember liking it. But as far as extensive hitting, I really liked the M-Pro No 1 (green & yellow). The X Force Pro is real nice, but something about the M-Pro...it was very, very smooth. Overused phrase, I know, but they really were 'like slicing through butter'.

I still have two of them, but they were extended, then put back to normal, so they're not quite the same as the originals.

I had some Xforces I just sold which I did like from a feel perspective. The issue I had was that I don't like thick tip frames as I never can get them to work for my 1hbh. I need something thinner beamed as they tend to be more head light and it helps me get the tip through the shot better.

Thanks McLovin and others.

As I said, wish I'd looked at the X Force Pro longer - and also in my correct grip size.

My thing is I like a solid nice impact feel with some plow and with pronounced control and very decent power too. Blade is very close. PC Swirly is actually my fav ever for these traits, but too hefty. So, something along those lines but easier to use.

Anyone else have any comments on the X Fast Pro and other Pacific frames?

Yeah, originally I had the same problem. I remember getting ready to return serve & looking down at the profile of my X Force Pro, thinking "holy crap, that looks thick". Then I ripped a backhand return off a 120MPH serve and quickly forgot about it.

The X Feel Pro 95 plays similar, but is slightly lower powered. If you liked the X Force Pro, its worth a swing.

What model is that? I don't see it anywhere on TW?

I have 2 Fischer Pro No 1 FT, 2 M Tour 320g and 1 M tour 295g. My main racket has been M Tour 320g for past 4-5 years. It's awesome. Gives me enough power, great control and stability against hard hitters and protects my elbow. It's headlight and easy to swing. I also like the 295g version which is what Pacific is currently selling. It does better in serve department but gives me less bite on BH slices than the heavier version.

McLovin was spot on when he compared the M Tour with Pure Storm. If I ever switch away from Fisher/Pacific I will get a Pure Storm.

I have also demoed X Feel Tour 90. It's a unique racket. The head seems longer and narrower. It's extremely low powered but there is a nice feel when the ball hits the tiny sweet spot. You can actually feel the head "bend" on the contact which could be unsettling for those used to "crisp" feel of Pure Drives and it's clones. I can't imagine any modern player playing with this racket. It's really for collectors and those 50+ league players who still play serve and volley and still can't get over midsize rackets.

All fischer (and pacific) rackets are the most arm friendly rackets in the market. More recreational players should switch to these rackets than the Aero Pro and Pure Drives, and Wilson 90/95s.

I wonder if Pacific X Fast Pro is based on Fischer Beat racket. A friend used to play with one. I played with it couple of years ago. It was very very light, some thing like 250-260 gms but had amazing stability and power. I never thought I could crush a forehand with something that light, but I was wrong.

Fischer was notorious for naming different rackets with very similar and confusing names. And I see that Pacific is no better. They can do better than painting every racket either black/white or orange/white and drop that X from the name. They should create distinct color schemes for various models and also name them appropriately.

The pain on my arm disappeared ever since switching to the Pacifics.
However, after a round of golf over the weekend, they were back.

but with the Fischer feel added in.

How would you describe the Fischer feel? Am curious as to what its like. Babolat feel to me is always a bit tinny hollow. Wilson BLX slightly dampened, not flexy but not stiff either. Head non-IG Youteks - bit brassy but alot of feedback. Fischer?

That's a tough one. I've never been good at describing 'feel', other than the 'tinny-hollow' you mention from Babolat Pure/Aero Drives. The best I can do is say it's a solid, flexy-from-the-throat feel. Not much vibration, if any at all, never harsh, even on mis-hits.

This 'feel' has been consistent throughout the line of players racquets, including, but not limited to: X-Force/VT98/Pro No 1 line, X Feel Tour/Magnetic Tour line, and the X Feel Pro/M-Comp line.

@ McLovin. There was a black Fischer 98(?) from a few years back with smaller green and orange graphics/lettering I think. Do you know which Fischer that was and would you say that its 'feel' is representative of current Pacific sticks?

Playing with the predecessor of the X-feel Tour, the Fischer Magnetic Tour, actually cured my elbow too!

Great frames to try out. If you're not sure pacific is something for you, look for fischers. With a bit of luck you can find one or two really cheep.

Can't say as I know that one. Have you tried using the 'Way Back Machine' to look for it @ Tennis Warehouse? Go here:

On a side note, I forgot about the Progressor NT. At the time that frame came out I was 3 months into the M-Comp and had converted back to 27" frames. I remember kicking myself because that was a nice 27.5" frame (my previous 3 had been extended frames). It was, effectively, an extended Pro No 1

Wanted to share some thoughts about the X Force Pro. I was able to hit with one last night, strung with Genesis Typhoon at 56, leather grip, OG and damper, 353 grams, 325 SW. I had previously hit with the TW demo strung with a multi, which I was very impressed by.

I've been playing with the Prince Diablo mid for 10 years or so, before that it was the Pure Control swirly. Hit a heavy ball from both sides, OHBH, kick serve, playing USTA 5.0.

The X Force pro plays a lot like a lighter swinging, softer and better feeling swirly Pure Control, I am impressed by the power that is available and the spin production on groundstrokes, felt great on my backhand, topspin and slice. I did not get to hit serves yet so I can't comment on that. Volleys were very well produced, good control, good touch, really didn't hit all that many though. Hit one overhead, bounced over the fence, so I guess that's a good thing.

All in all, very impressive, very easy on the arm. I might play around with different string set ups and weights. Originally I was worried about the thick tip, but I forgot about it when I started hitting.

Only issue is it felt like the upper hoop was a little dead, but I only hit a ball or two up there, very noticeable compared to the Diablo, wondering if a little lead at 10 and 2 would stiffen up the upper hoop.

Let me know if y'all have any questions.

As far as feel goes on the Xforce Pro. It is definately not tinny or hollow feeling. It has a solid feel, with some considerable flex, although not as much flex, as say an IG Radical Pro. Although it is solid, it is not as solid or stiff as a Wilson 6.1, 95 ( K factor ). There is some muting, but not a ton, still plenty of feedback off the strings. Shots hit in the sweetspot ( which is of average size ), are downright glorious. Shots out of the sweetspot lose power, as you would expect, but are not jarring. There is very little vibration on any shots, no harshness at all. Words I would use to describe the feel of the frame would be: smooth, solid, plush, comfortable.

Racquets I have used before going to this frame are: Wilson 6.1 95 KFactor, Head IG Prestige Pro, Head IG Radical Pro, Donnay Pro One, Pro Kennex 7G, Yonex Super RD Tour. The XForce Pro is most like the Head IG Prestige Pro in feel, but has a little more pop, is way better on serve, has at least as much control, is better at net, and overall is more forgiving. There is just something about this racquet that brings out the best in my game....go figure.

BTW, I use a full bed of Solnico Tour Bite 19ga. I have used a Poly/Multi hybrid as well. The racquet is really not string sensitive.

Most often the fischer feel is described as "buttery" or "like running a knife through the butter" and I agree with it. I like to describe it as "memory foam" like . It's not mushy, it's solid but cushioned.

I have not tried the X Force Pro, but I have played with Fischer M Pro No 1. I remember that the sweet spot was little lower and the racket felt bit jarring when ball hit in upper half of the string bed. A little bit of lead at 3 and 9 fixed it then.

Also remember that Fischers play well in lower range of the tension. I regularly string my M Tour at 50 lbs with multi and 55 with gut. If you are going to use poly start with 45.

XFast Pro 100. Pick one up and try to put it down, thereafter. After your serve jumps 20mph, its hard to look elsewhere for a frame. Absolute beast of a racquet, but somehow still has deft touch of a Fischer. Unreal.

No the Beat (Pro) racket is actually a HH Pro One FT. When gamma bought fischer they incorporated titanium in the layup. There is a Gamma Beat Pro and a Fischer Beat Pro which are almost identical to the Pro One FT.

I have Beat Pro so I can relate. It probably has more power because it's stiff frame (for fischer's) @ 66flex. It's 290g unstrung with a 335 unstrung balance so it's not really a 'light' frame. It is a HH monster with (i'm guessing) a high SW. Mine is about 370 grams in total with only 5 grams @ 9/3. It's really is a abnormal beast. To bad my elbow is still fragile because I love playing with that frame. To bad it really lacks Torsional stability.Titanium just doesn't work in rackets.

Here's the best way I can describe the XFast Pro 100:

If you remember what it was like hitting with the Pure Drive for the first time - it was like nothing you'd ever felt. So much power and spin, massive serves, firm put-away volleys. But then after a short period of time, you realized that you couldn't consistently keep the ball in the court, as the racquet just had way too much power, too stiff of a frame. You wondered if Babolat or some other company would be able to make certain tweaks to the frame to allow for more control, without compromising that insane plow-through that you loved so much, for such a short period of time.

Behold that answer, in the form of the PACIFIC XFast Pro 100. Totally corny post, yes. But the racquet is breathtaking. Tennis magazine's play-testers wholeheartedly agreed in their 2013 Racquet Review.

anyone hit with the 105 sq in Pacific X force Comp? Always looking for a 105ish frame that leans more toward a players stick then a high powered rocket launcher. I like the specs with a 60 flex rating - any feedback?

Not personally, but a good friend of mine, who's a 4.5 baseliner, used it's predecessor, the Fischer M Speed Pro Number One 105:

FMSR.JPG

In fact, 5 years later, he's still using it. He had shoulder problems in high school & college, and after switching to this frame they became much less severe.

I believe the X Force Comp 105, like most other Pacific offerings, is the 'Black Granite' version of the Fischer M-Speed sticks that never made it to the states. They play slightly stiffer, but still feel like a Fischer.

I hit with this for about five hours with a shop owner who was testing it out, last week. It is NOT a Black Granite that never made it to the store shelves. It is an exact duplicate of the M-Pro Number 1 105. We put it on the diagnostics machine after hitting and it registered a 58/RA, three times in a row.

So needless to say, it is most certainly a super mid-plus player frame. Stock weight is 10.3, but it's still HL, so five grams of weight in/on the handle, is money in the bank. Truly a rare find of a frame here.

I ordered mine 2 weeks ago...

Having said that - it just arrived! If it´s not raining I´m going to swing it tomorrow morning. Ordered it strung with Signum Micronite at 22/21.5 kilo (around 48.5 lb) - the stringbed seems to be pretty stiff though. Else the racquet feels nicely robust, the balance seems perfect and it looks jolly good indeed (perhaps a bit too flashy for some...). Let´s see how it works out, I just don´t trust the stringing...

48 lbs of full multi in a powerful racquet like the XFast is going to be very powerful. But Micronite is pretty low powered for a multi, so hopefully it won't be too powerful. But let us know how it plays. I am very intrigued by the XFast but am not sure if it has "touch" and "feel". Lots of reviewers talk about the power of the racquet and how it's Pure Drive-like, but I am more concerned that it won't have the touch required for my game. I hit a lot of droppers.
