Pain in the Hand

Hi guys,

It finally got warm enough, so I went out to hit some balls for 1st time since last fall. After hitting around for a few hours, my hand started to hurt. Specifically, when I try to grip the racquet with my pinky, ring, and middle finger. Is there anything I can do to ease the pain?

thanks...

Rest it up and don't play again until the discomfort is gone, and then when you do start playing again, do so gradually and don't jump into hitting for hours on your first go.

Rest your hand.
Now, check your grip. Is it too small? A larger grip (not extremely big) = less stress to ur hand, since u don't have to grip it so tightly :)

Kinda hard to say without knowing what type of pain it is.

For most people though typical things like some soreness and blistering are normal after coming off a winter break. Your hands soften up, muscles and tendons lose their strength and flexibility you may have had at the end of the season. Just take it easy. For skin abrasion like blistering, try some rayon surgical tape. It helps alot and adheres pretty well, even for sweaty hands.

If it's a recurring issue then I would check some of the suggestions like grip type, size, overgrip, etc.

Hitting for a few hours the first time out in months is foolish....you got what you asked for. The finger distribution (less so the middle finger) could correspond to an ulnar nerve involvement, so if it persists you should see a neurologist.
