Pain near the elbow

Okay, I've had tennis elbow before but I'm pretty sure this is not it. As I stretch my arm out like I am shaking someone's hand, I get some soreness after playing kind of near the top of my arm near my elbow. When I grip a racquet or rotate my arm it is more pronounced. It is not debilitating but more annoying than anything. Seems like it helps a little if I massage it. Anyone else experience this?

FYI...I haven't been playing regularly recently. Typically a couple times a month. I might try cutting my strings out and re-stringing. I've had the same strings for a while now. I have a hybrid setup with syn gut mains and poly crosses.

I am battling with something similar, but it has become debilitating to the point I can hardly grip a tennis racket after about 30-40 mins of hitting, I reckon mine is more golfers elbow but is very much confined to the inner elbow joint, i get no pain further down at all. It's now so bad I am looking silly on the court as I play very high level and don't have the strength to grip the racket firm enough to rip shots or play against big hitters.

Nothing I have done has worked including ice, rest, massage.

If it's on the top, it sounds like TE. If you're sure it's not, then maybe lateral epicondylitis ;)

When I say top, I mean if I hold my hand out to shake it is near the top. In the past when I've had TE, the pain has been right around the elbow joint. I suppose it still could be TE. I've been doing exercises with my flex bar this week since playing on Sunday and it seems to have improved.

Yes. It's inflammation caused by overuse of the forearm. I would suggest wearing a wrist brace when you sleep. Don't extend the tendons while you're sleeping. Keep it in a prone position. Take anti-inflammatories. Give it time to heal. If you keep playing through the pain it will only get worse.
