Paris, France - Today (Dec 7) to Dec 10

There are public red clay courts sprinkled around town that you can reserve for free I believe, if you are a registered user, which I believe is also free.
Just got back from a 90-minute hit on indoor red clay. It was not free, but the action was great.

what was your process for finding people?
when i was in paris a couple years ago i found a handful of popele to play with (including a ntrp5.5 guy that was also a physio for a handful of wta players), but ironically i played the most with an us lawyer that was working for a french company at the time... he was a ex-d1, but that kicked my butt every time, but he liked that i would (a) travel to him (b) play at his schedule (eg. early morning before work) (c) i was decent enough that i could hit - but never really threaten him
how i found these folks:
* prepared of yt vid of me hitting... because most tennis folks tend to exaggerate ratings, so i let them decide for themselves.
* sent my links of utr & tr
* reached out to folks on global tennis network, a paris meetup i had found, (can't remember where else), post here...
in general, this is my process :P
worst case scenario i just paid of lessons... and asked for recommendations.
i think paris was pricey though, in terms of lessons (at least in the inner arrondissments)

The most efficient way is to simply pay teaching pros to hit. In big cities like Paris or London, there are teaching pro aggregator sites that you sign up for and they contact you.

In Latin America or Asia, the hotels are much more service oriented than in Europe or North America, and they usually will provide full service to call around to local clubs arrange a hit with a pro.

Third resort is meetup sites, but I’ve had less luck with that.

@nyta2 When I hit in Rome earlier this year, I used a tennis pro named Andrea. She runs a group, mostly through Facebook I believe, called “Tennis in Rome”. I reached out via WhatsApp and she made all the arrangements. I got to play at a club across the river from Foro Italico while the Rome tournament was actually going on, and got to hit with her. It was fantastic.

i don’t remember how much it was - probably 50 euros or something like that. Definitely worth it to me to get a high quality hour long hit in without having to do any work making arrangements.

One thing about teaching pro hourly rates:

The price can vary widely, and it correlates more strongly with the ego of the pro than it does with the level of the pro or the level of the experience.

thanks for sharing!
yep, paying for a pro is my default.
personally i find the experience of meeting with tennis locals, part of my immersive vacation in <fill in country> :)
is there an international version of "playyourcourt" or "mytennislessons"?
else i have to fall back to calling clubs 1by1
50Euros is very reasonable IMO (especially compared to the $100-200/h+ in the tri state nyc area)...

same in nyc area... though admittedly some $$$ pros (former utr14+) i've taken lessons from, have definitely been worth the money (explanation, breakdown, etc...)...
guessing it's not an ego thing, it's a utr/highest-level-of-accomplishment thing...
so a utr12 might benefit/require a lesson from a former utr14...

Some of my least expensive and highest quality hits have been with ex Top 300 guys with pro wins over Delpo and others.

On other side, I had to pay a fortune for a hit last weekend in Paris with a UTR 8 dude with zero ITF wins, but I was desperate to get some exercise and not many indoor courts were available.

guessing it's location dependent...
paris indoor courts are like nyc indoor courts imo... so you're paying steep real estate costs... but had you been able to find outdoor folks to hit with on the public courts, probably only 50euros or so... (that's what i paid last time i was there). i also had to go out of the city since court reservations wthin the city were tough to come by... which ended up being a nice excursion taking public transport for me (while wife was shopping) ;P

How is the Pickleball scene in Europe? In the US, travel play has come to mean Pickleball. Easy to pack a paddle and find partners. Has the culture come to Europe?

They have a robust pádel scene, but pickleball is less established, thankfully.

What's a "fortune"?
