Djokovic could be in big trouble tomorrow if he has some poor periods like in this match. Serve has more room for improvement than anything else.

Entertaining contest. Definitely one of better ones between these two guys. That stretched backhand down the line was colossal.

The serve was not firing today like it has been lately and he made 5 double faults. Can't remember the last time he hit so many doubles. I thought he was too casual in that first set but stepped up the aggression in the second. Got shaky again in the 3rd but yea the level is not what I was expecting this week, but could be because he's feeling under the weather.

A diplomatic Djokovic gifting 1st set to improve Croat-Serb relations before asserting himself. Beautiful to see.

21 wins in a row.

Reckon he'll reach 40+?

I'll probably be wrong as I usually am, but my gut feeling is no on this question. I'm kind of fascinated to see how he plays on the slightly quicker AO surface tbh. No reason to think he can't get to 40+, but I could see a scenario where he loses his 3rd group match at the WTF after qualifying, ala 2015, or he loses in Doha before creaming everyone at the AO.

Won't be easy to go unbeaten at the YEC but he hasn't played too much this year and should be fresh as a daisy, unlike some other competitors.
Cilic probably has the biggest shot at beating him.

Half the dudes at the WTF have no idea how to play Djokovic despite having played him a bunch of times.

The where is indeed the more interesting question. The Aussie Open I strongly doubt simply since it's Bo5 and his mental edge will be even greater there. Surface quickness isn't that big of a problem for Djokovic. He's the reigning Wimbly champion and I don't see how Fed has another Aussie run in him.

If it's not a RR match at the WTF I'd guess some random HC match between Australia and the clay

He probably won't need to improve tbh. Cilic played incredibly well, especially in certain stretches. I doubt Federer will play as well as Cilic did today, and the Djokovic-Nishikori match up is 100% in Djokovic's favour.
I suspect you may be right... But I'm hoping Fed wins tonight and then proves us wrong!

If Federer, Nadal and Djokovic are the Arnie, Sly and Van Damme of tennis, then Nishikori is Christian Slater

I usually give Federer a bigger chance prior to meeting Djokovic than most. You never know when will he start playing like a madman again.

Why does this entire forum hate Cilic

Lol. 2nd tier of top players can easily get hate in this forum. One of the big 4 fans rely on these players to actually beat one of the others 4, when they failed they hate him. When they win, that big 4 players hate him.
Example Fed fans love him when he beat Nadal in AO but loathe him when he lost to Djoko in Cincy.
Del Potro was saved because of his injuries history. Nishikori kinda safe with also injury proneness. Dimitrov not get the hate because he's less decorated than Cilic.

Plus TTW is extremely nasty when talking down of the players.

Love Cilic! He's so stoic and really nice on and off court.

Lol, he's gotten a lot of hate over the years. You only read what you wanna read. Cilic is a choking doper. People ignore this fact 'cause he really is that irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. But yes, all the whiny fanboys complain when a non top 2 player cleans the clock of their hero
