Paris Olympics 2024 QF - Carlos Alcaraz vs Tommy Paul

Now Carlos the Shepherd doing the ear thing. @MichaelNadal what you got to say about that now?
I don't know why he does such things. I was somewhat ready to support him for his interesting game, but why does he need to do extroverted and partially arrogant gestures all the time? Why not just let the racquet do all the talking, like Sampras and Federer? As if he needs to shine somewhere outside the actual game. That's only for people who couldn't do otherwise I thought.

i mean dude is just 21, comparing him vs sampras or fed at 21 isn't fair. guy reached the top very quickly so his (slight) arrogance is understandable.

Yup, he hit the ground running like Nadal whereas the other two took a while. (By ATG standards)

Spain are actually having a shocker this Olympics, haven't won a single gold medal yet. Just one silver and 2 bronze.

Alcaraz with a great shot to help them out.

Yes. And getting the ball past him is that much harder. We know how crazy his defense is.

The guy is an all court phenom. One of a kind for his age, so his game can translate to any surface, but imo, you can see how comfortable he is on the dirt.
He moves about as well as anybody on grass too however. I'd club these natural surfaces being his best kind of turf. With the exception of the Indian Wells and Arthur Ashe of course. Okay lmao I've covered all the surfaces.

Last Olympics Spain only won three gold medals: in shooting, karate and sport climbing. Spain is amazing at the big sports (soccer, tennis, golf, basketball) but never been a great Olympics nation.

Congrats Carlos, not even his best, but good enough for Tommy. As predicted, one tough set, but Tommy cannot go up another gear to stay with top 5 players.
