I feel novak has a slam in him. After watching this.
the best of 3 format gives him a luxury to maintain high level of tennis without dropping his level, that's much much harder to do in slams. this run was spectacular but it's a tougher and different challenge to win 7 matches in best of five, he has a chance but it's going to be extremely hard

I don’t think so. He owns anybody not name Alcaraz. This should give him some confidence. We shall see. Again Alcaraz could say hey i am 21 but this one is probably stinging him.

Congratulations to @Djokovic_is_the_best#1 @Cortana @GabeT

He’s quite simply the best with an amazing resume. I’d add the champagne emoji if I could on here lol

now Nole can retire
He does not need to retire IF he's still physically able to compete, supported by psychological strength (unlike another player of his generation who recently left the stage). Djokovic constantly proves he can defeat the alleged best of any of the generations he's faced, including the current group.

...and of course, congratulations to Djokovic for winning Olympic Gold in singles, effectively defeating Alcaraz with his wealth of tennis knowledge & talent not shared by his opponent.

In winning 2024 Paris, Djokovic becomes:

1. The only player in history to win every single big title on the tour.
2. The 5th player in history to win the CGGS (Career Golden Grand Slam) after Steffi Graf, Andre Agassi, Rafa Nadal, Serena Williams.
3. The 2nd current player after Nadal to complete the CGGS.
4. The only current player (now that Murray has retired) to win all categories of big titles (Slams, WTF, OSG, Masters 1000).
5. The only member of the former Big 3 to win all categories of big titles.

cringe that a) you're saying this at all b) that you are holding someone 16 years younger to the same standard of accrued experience

Correction on 2: I think you mean the Super Slam. Nadal has the Golden Slam too.

Is there any definition for all GS + ATP Finals + OG + all M1000?
Nope. I'm already partial to the Clean Sweep (if it happens in a year), so I'm going to be calling it a Career Sweep. Much easier than what I think they'll do (Career Super Golden Slam - AKA Super Slam + Golden Masters).

For me, nothing changes in the grand scheme. Lolympics remain lolympics. Tennis' most golden child became slightly more golden today.

However, especially as someone who has been a fan for 18 years now, I do owe Mr Stunning an apology for continuously brushing aside his personal goal. When you think about it, he's been carrying this burden of his for sixteen years, ever since that most infamous Djokosmash in Beijing. That's some really heavy stuff that nobody can relate to.

And after all the disappointments and not one but two of these previous events looking like they were his last opportunity, to come here at 37 years of age, on his worst surface, with no titles this season, at the court that also looked unconquerable for him in the distant past, against a new legend of the game in crazy form and young enough to be his child... To win with no sets dropped as well, I say that tennis has never and will never have a more deserving gold medalist than him.

Squirmovic brigade... Bros, same as always. He might be 37, but it's still not too late to stop doubting him. You have jumped on the most stunning tennis ride of all time, perhaps you should start behaving accordingly at last.

All the scum haters and lolympics propaganda imbeciles... There are a few scheduled bumps and visits for them no doubt.

Finally, from all the way up north in Norway, I raise a can of beer for Djokovic and his countrymen. They are lucky to have such a jewel. Sport's shiniest one...

Respect your consistency. Some people would have changed there mind because Djok won.

Nole went through hell in that 9th game.
If I go back to the 9th game of the 1st set, it was the crucial moment of the entire match. If Carlos had converted one of the 5 BPs, he would have served to win the set, he would have won it, it would have boosted his confidence and the outcome of the match would probably have been different. Bread was broken there.

Alcaraz’s despondency is what you want to see. It’s a big deal to him. No shame losing to the GOAT. But he knows what beating the GOAT could have meant for his own legacy.

I was wrong, said Goat in 3, he did it in two tough sets?

Congrats to both players getting silver and gold. Meant so much to them, all the tears by both.

Could not watch the match, was the level by both higher than Cincy final?

Anywhere online I can watch the full match?

So Djokovic forced 43 errors out of Alcaraz whose court coverage saved probably 10 winners.
Alcaraz forced 24 errors out of Djokovic.

68 earned points by Djokovic, 65 by Alcaraz.

The difference Djokovic having 8 less UE, playing a very clean match considering the amount of rallying and that it was on clay.
Djokovic also let go of balls he could have reached to preserve energy

Raises his level to the skies and wins the battle of nerves against an ATG 21-yo, but gets dismissed along with his opponent by TTW with a snappy, "yeah but he's 37 and that one 21 hehe".
