Parnell knot question

You should listen more and STFU more. The video is clear as day. He says "but not before you pass the tail through again" (paraphrased).

So, perhaps he got abit ahead of himself while the making the video which is still so clear that a child could tie the knot properly.
I have a feeling you'll be on everyones "block/ignore" list so none if this will matter in short order.
In fact, I think we need a sticky thread at the top regarding exactly that.

Actually, I get lots of PM's thanking me for the clarity of my posts.

I laid out my argument with 2 videos and timestamps, and I am clearly right.
If you don't understand what I am saying, that is your problem, not mine.

Please raise your hand if you've sent a PM to this person thanking him for the clarity of his posts.

This sounds like someone we are all aware of in Washington DC speaking about how great he is.

Yup, the video is clear as day.
He tightens the first knot.

I did EXACTLY what he does in his video.

1) Tighten the hell out of the first loop
2) Loosen the first loop

To other beginners, the Parnell rope video is WRONG.
DO NOT TIGHTEN the first loop.
See with your own eyes in the Gamma video

He did not tighten the hell out of the first loop as you say, and clearly states to pass string through then tighten. Do not blame the person making that video for your ignorance. He was clear on what he said. Hard to believe you pulled the first loop tight to just undo it with an awl and did that for a year. That days a lot about you.

You know, if I had watched a video, without sound, on how to tie a Parnell knot and then had problems with same I might would have gone back and re-watched the video only this time with sound. Your mistake is not the fault of the video and the video is not to blame. Aside from this, there are literally dozens of other videos you could have referenced. The video in question is accurate and straightforward to any normal person.

Again, do not place blame when you only have half the story.

@TimeToPlaySets - dude. your idea of "tighten the hell out of" and the rest of civilization are two completely different things. He did what he did because the string he used was a) in a tub and b) so thick. I cannot believe you insist on continuing to dig a hole on this. You didn't follow instructions, plain & simple.

Some how I knew you would not have admit you were at fault, as you are not that type of person that can admit you made a mistake.
@Rabbit is correct, you did not follow directions, and rather than admit you inadequacy you blame Yulitle for the video. That's sad.

You don't seem to have a grasp of reality. He did not tighten the hell out of the first loop, and he specifically said to pass string through before you tighten it. I can't believe you did that for a year. It just doesn't make any sense to me.
Did I miss the part where he took an awl to open up that first loop? I cannot believe you did that for a year no less. Unbelievable!
You should get an award for that, just don't know what to call it at present time.

Watch the Gamma video, he does not tighten the first loop .

Also, you don't need an awl on a large rope. Different medium.
In hindsight, that was another hint that the video was grossly incompetent.
Want to learn how to tie tennis strings? Watch a video that uses TENNIS STRINGS.

IT DOES NOT MATTER WHAT HE SAYS, IT'S WHAT HE DOES.
1) Tighten the hell out of the first loop
2) Loosen the first loop

I've said what was needed to be said,
and I'm done with this discussion.

You know, this entire thread would have been fine if you just admitted that you made an error , but you chose to slam a person who took the time to help a good number of stringers get some good information with the videos he made.. Very sad.

As I said:

If you want to tighten that single half hitch some initially, that’s fine. Or you can leave the whole thing loose while you complete the knot. It’s personal preference - either is acceptable.

If anything is clear, the above didn’t soak in.

I agree that the video is more helpful than unhelpful
but it took the fresh insight of a beginner to point out the glaring error made in the video.

The error I made was assuming the video was correct. It is knot.

Fact is there is no error as you say.
He specifically said to pass string through loop before you tighten it up. Your error does not make it the video error as you say
To top it off you started another thread of same topic, just showing your ignorance.
Furthermore you said you were done with this discussion, and evidently you are not, so your error again.
Why can't you just admit you made a mistake, or is that not possible for you?
Yulittle did a remarkable job assembling his videos to help beginning stringers, sad to see you try to discredit him.

Are you deliberately this delusional, obtuse, dogmatic, and narcissistic in real life?

The video is not wrong. You are.

You were using an awl to do this knot. Not the guy in the video.

The guy in the video is an MRT. You aren’t.

You know the peekaboo game you play with babies? If you hold your hand in front of your face the baby thinks you disappeared because they dont see you. Same idea with ttps. He needs literal exact explanations with the same racket, strings, stringer, etc... preferable a video of a person stringing in ttps own house for him to understand anything.

It’s easy to make this statement up cuz no one can offer proof other than ttps. Of course he will never show the proof because no one is PM’g him to thank him for anything.

He’s too smart to follow simple instructions. Lol

After stringing for a year, most people would not consider themselves beginners. It takes a special breed of individual to stay at the beginner level for so long.

According to ttps, anyone who claims to be able to string a racquet in under 2 hours is a liar because it takes him that long to do the job. I know for a fact that yulitle can string a racquet in less than 2 hours so he is automatically a liar. :-D

Don’t insult babies. Babies are much smarter than @TimeToPlaySets.

Admins, please block this guy.

He's not beneficial to these boards and in fact is inflammatory and incorrect in everything he has posted.
(at least to 99.9% of us).

Thanks!!

No, actually, I think my post is quite helpful for beginners who are misled by the video where he demonstrated the incorrect technique.
I for one would have greatly appreciated someone pointing this out last year.

If you do not like my posting, please click my username and then click ignore.
This will take you less than 2 seconds. Thank you.

Your the one giving incorrect information as the video was correct. Get over it and get on with life.

Indeed, so helpful that another thread you created today was deleted - ya know, the one where you asserted (again) that the one video depicted “incorrect technique” and the other one “correct technique?”

Putting the second loop in before tightening the first loop is what makes this knot interesting as it means that the first half hitch isn't putting all the pressure on the anchor string, there is a string between the loop and the anchor. If you tighten the first loop so much that you have to use an awl to make space for the second loop you have just negated any advantage of this knot over a DHH and risk premature breakage
All the best

Richard, what do you think of the video, where he tightens the first loop so much that he needs to back it off? (Not possible with tennis strings)

Oh my gosh.....give it a rest for Pete's sake! Out of one thousand posters, you were the only one to have "issues". You didn't listen to the audio, you watched a video of a knot tied with a large, soft string which requires some additional pulling to make it work and you complain. Had the video been made with actual tennis string....well hell you still didn't listen to the INSTRUCTIONS!

Repeat these phrases daily for a month:

From now on, I will listen to the audio and not go off half cocked.
From now on, I will listen to the audio and not go off half cocked.
From now on, I will listen to the audio and not go off half cocked.
From now on, I will listen to the audio and not go off half cocked.
From now on, I will listen to the audio and not go off half cocked.
From now on, I will listen to the audio and not go off half cocked.
From now on, I will listen to the audio and not go off half cocked.

and...

Sometimes I am at fault.
Sometimes I am at fault.
Sometimes I am at fault.
Sometimes I am at fault.
Sometimes I am at fault.
Sometimes I am at fault.
Sometimes I am at fault.
Sometimes I am at fault.
Sometimes I am at fault.

You don't SAY one thing, and DO another.
Terrible video. Parnell should force him to correct it.
You want to know the truth? You can't handle the truth!
You don't change a video because of your ignorance. Hard to believe your still going on about your issues.
The video Yulitle is correct, I have been using that knot since 1968 when an old time stringer sold me his machine back then , he taught me that same knot.
You should put this to rest. Enough already.

I'm pretty sure YouTube has a "thumbs down" button AND a whole comments section dedicated to each video. There you can take out your frustrations for the years of duress from being tricked into using an awl to tie this knot. I'd sue YouTube for damages, too.

I did put it to rest.
I know I am 100% correct.
Parnell himself bumped this thread, so I asked him how he felt about someone incorrectly demonstrating his knot

You stand to be corrected, as you are 100%incorrect.
You should just admit that you are wrong, and accept that as the facts, otherwise you are living a fantasy.
Why is it so hard for you to admit you were wrong?
Every one here can see that but you.
