Pat Cash calls Fed out. LMAO @ Fed "Wawrinka took an MTO, so I took one"

I have no idea why you think I am depressed. Fed's MTOs are hilarious.

Stop hiding and admit that you're in pain. You are emotionally attached to Nadal, so whenever he's upset/depress/worried, so felt the same way.

Just because it's Fed, worshippers are defending him. Anyone else would be put on the stake by the herd.

Taking MTOs right before the fifth set in consecutive matches. Mockery lol
What do you think about Nadal's toilet break after 30 odd minutes into the match right after getting smashed in the first set? Federer has started such stuff as a reactionary measure. For years, Nadal, Djokovic et all have got away with time wasting and multiple dubious MTOs (Nadal Hamburg 2008, FO 2011 before Fed's serve, IW 2012 toilet break before Federer serving for the match etc).

You mention Fed did it twice in consecutive matches....sure. But what you fail to mention is that in BOTH matches, Federer took it as a reaction (if indeed we accept the reason was not legitimate for the sake of the argument). Stan took a MTO after Federer won the set in the SF and Nadal took a pathetic ''bathroom'' break after set 1. I expect nothing less disingenuous from a Virat Kohli/Tendulkar fan though.

Fed turned pro in 1998 (i.e. less than 20 years ago) and I have found on the Internet more than 'a few' his MTOs.
Wow, u don't even know how to quote. You are quoting me for something I never said, LOL. Please take a break, dear, get some rest. An MTO maybe to get your wits back.

salty threads, keep 'em coming, extremely salty

I don't blame them. It comes down to 3 or 4 losers who always post these threads to incense/incite other fan bases. And even most of us Fed fans had given up hope of a win. The great suresh and 90sC are two of them. And then there's the latest account of N S K or Nadal2012/3/4/whatever.

When their predictions fell flat on their face, then they began running down Fed's 18. It's rahter sick if you ask me. So desperate were they to insult and crush Federer fans at yet another loss, and then they lose the opportunity to do so. Cheated of an opportunity to gloat over yet another loss !

OTOH, Nadal loses nothing upon losing to Federer with whom he has a lop-sided H2H. He's back in shape and has a solid chance of winning FO whereas one really doesn't know if Federer will even reach a final again.There's really no need for suresh and 90sC to go around like the world has ended.

Funny how Pat said what Roger did was "legal cheating" but made no mention of Rafa continually exceeding the 25 seconds between points rule.
That is possibly because Fed joked about it.

He should have put on a drama of pain, grimaced, clutched his groin, etc. But he didn't. Even when he took a toilet break in 2010 AO semi, he had joked about it, and people quoted him literally. Seems people cant distinguish between humor and seriousness.

Would he have really said he took an MTO just because Stan took one, if that were actually the case ?

Fellas, fellas. You have to remember that feder is a lot like Batman. He's fundamentally the good guy of the story, but when faced with the unrestrained and destructive nihilism of Rafa al Ghul and the Joker we accept that the rules have to be stretched a bit sometimes, and in fact we find him more complex and appealing because of it.

think about it. thenk u.
and Murray is Alfred the butler? (heehee) Stan is Fox? Both doing their own little part to take out Rafa al Ghul and Djoker. All makes sense now, well done.

The posters point is that these people attack Nadal for his MTO's, while defending Federer when he does the exact same thing.
Actually, they don't do the same thing.

It's like equating someone who once drove at 61 mph (on a 60 zone), with someone who frequently drives at 100. Or picking a penny off the street with robbing a bank.

When the person you support regularly breaks a rule, yes you will nitpick into others to find some transgression (even if hypothetical), just to equate the two. It doesn't work that way.

In any case, you are still assuming that Fedr took the break to break momentum.

Double standards...

Not surprised. Federer could kill a dozen people and his glory-hunting fans would defend him, claiming that the "(swiss cheese) maestro is at work". If Djokovic donated money to refugees, they'd be quick to call him all sorts of degrading terms. Most Federderp fans are complete headcases, and very toxic. Almost all of his supporters should swallow some red hot nickel balls.

You are wrong.
1) At the 2008 Hamburg Masters, Rafa took a MTO before his service game at 2-5 in the first set.

2) AT FO 2011, Rafa had a medical treatment (the trainer put a bit talc on his foot) before his service game at 2 -5.
https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2011/jun/05/french-open-nadal-federer-live

3) At the 2012 IW, Rafa went to the toilet during the changeover that lasts 90 sec. He did not get any extra time.

It did seem to me that Nadal was taking less time between serves in the final. I guess that time violation in the semis was on his mind. Interesting that when Rafa has to play more by the rules he can't dominate.

My dad recorded the match. When we watched the 5th (I had already seen it live of course!), he pressed "fwd 30 sec" after each point to get to the next point, and sure enough it showed that Rafa takes about 30-35 seconds between points (not Fed).

Most of the guys here are new here, I see Gurus posting only since 2012... flooding the boards all day long. Anyway, we had some serious historical Fedal battles on these boards, especially with 90 and Sureshs (always funny to see how he auto self destructs lol), I even had my first account from 2007 suspended then I switched to this one in 2011... I only come around now when Kingerer is on fire :D
My humble conclusion after all this time is sad: Nadal fan base has 0 class. Sad! They are fake news.

Funny this logic only works for Federer.

Lmao he got his massage or something. As a result was fresher later in the 5th

I mean you don't have to like the rule, but it seems you are hating on the guy for using his one MTO per match, that was pretty insignificant in the grand scheme of things. You act like he went off the court to drink from the fountain of youth or something, as if he didn't take that break, then there's no way he would have beaten Rafa... Fact is, he got down an early break, dug in deep and fought like a champ and redlined his game to win 5 games in a row and take the title... MTO or no MTO, it didn't matter. Fed won the match because he beat Rafa, straight up. Even Rafa said so in his press conference, and when asked about the MTO he had no objection to it whatsoever, and brushed it aside as if it was a nonissue...

People like you trying to diminish Fed's legacy and accomplishments, it's just disgraceful. Please log off and don't come back until you show some respect for the game.

Fed took at least 5 MTOs from 2003 through 2008. And that's not all.

Fed's MTOs from 2003 through 2008, after he fell behind (source: the Oregonian; I'm not sure this list includes all his MTO during that period):
- in the first set of the Wimbledon 2003 4th round against Feliziano Lopez after being down a break after the second game; he needed a back massage;
- in the fifth set of the Australian Open 2005 semifinal against Marat Safin after he fell behind in the set; he needed a back massage;
- in the fifth set of the Masters Cup 2005 final against David Nalbandian after he fell behind in the fifth set; he needed a leg massage;
- in the second set, down a set and a break, in the second round of Indian Wells in 2007 against Guillermo Canas to have his foot blisters retaped;
- in the third set of a round robin match at the 2008 Masters Cup against Andy Murray, after being down a break; he needed a back massage.

Just stop. You're guy lost, fair and square.. The least you can do is lose with some class and dignity... I gave Rafa his props in the commiserations to Rafa fans thread and admitted he played a really good match, and fought like a champion. If you are unwilling or unable to give Federer any respect, then you should just stop posing here entirely.

Hi there, ignore these guys, they're trolling you. I study internet forums for a living and can see through all of their posts.

They actually agree with you and admire your tenacity, fight, endless stamina and humility.

Fed has always been a serial cheater who capitalized on a weak era (and questionable tactics, as you so relentlessly state) to rack up his 18 slams. His father works for a drug company, so when Rafa started beating him...

I also blame the tennis journalists, commentators and foreign government officials for insinuating Rafa's injuries and recoveries are abnormal. Meanwhile the Swiss ballerina gets a free pass, very much like Lance! We all know Rafa's uncle was a beast, so he has inherited great genes. Can you imagine if he was to actually use stuff to increase his talents? He would've won more than 35 slams by now.

So just don't let it get to you, it's just tennis, pure entertainment.

My favorite thing is all the Federer fans defending Fed for taking the MTOs, when they're ready to prosecute any other player every time. Pot, meet kettle.

Okay, I can see why you may be trying to loop this into other criticisms of players doing the "same" thing. I think that it's merely a bad word choice by Fed in the moment that Cash is trying to clutch onto. I think he did have an actual issue as evidenced of still having to deal with it during the Nadal match. Subsequently taking a MTO that IS a valid part of the game and does NOT amount to gamesmanship, or "legal cheating". Fed's years of not making that type of choice means it's fair to give him the benefit of the doubt instead of it being hypocrisy.

How exactly does a massage make you fresher 4 games after you get it?

And, for the record, Nadal had the exact same amount of time to rest as Federer did.

It's merely that same silly old bunch of brain damaged zealots... it's merely a few, the ignore button is your friend. ;)

One good thing after matches like this one: it's easy to distinguish the classy fans - those congratulating the winner, the ones you can have a decent discussion with (even while not always agreeing), the ones that comment "oh well, better luck next time" and move on... from the total, wackjob, nutters.

Could not agree with this comment more. sometimes, it takes 25 seconds to get to the line to serve, add another 10 seconds to go through his hideous routine of touching every body part before starting the serve motion.
