I remember some matches of him I've seen when I was child. Good player, with a good serve and a good volley. Very elegant on the court. 1/8 F in FO in 1977, beaten by Gottfried (the finalist).

such a sad news, i was sorry to hear that... :(
i feel like he was commenting some matches until very recently... i had no idea he had such serious health issues.

i'm too young to remember him playing (i'll have to look for some videos online), but he's been a familiar face (and voice !) since i was a kid. you could feel he really loved the game, and his comments were often pertinent...

a thought for his family, from a random tennis fan.

Very sad news indeed. I remember him commentating so many matches since the late 80s to last year. I saw him during the 2014 Davis Cup final and he seemed to be better. Sadly not.

A very smart man who knew what he was talking about and who liked to share his knowledge of the game in a very simple and accurate manner.

Like too many others, famous or anonymous, he left too early and he will be missed by many of us.

My thought go to his family, if they ever read those lines.

Rest in peace Patrice, and thank you. :(

sorry for all his family

Contrary to most frenchmen of the 70´s, this lefty played regular serve and volley tennis, even on clay, much in Panatta´s or Pecci´s mold.He was a great observer of the game even if his success on tour was very limited ( in the 70´s, with the tennis boom, there were many french intervilles tournament and endorsements that gave french pros a good living without having to strive...)
