Patrick M helping Halep

Just listening to Chris Evert commenting on Halep, apparently according to Simona herself she is a better player than she was three years ago, her serve is at least 5mph faster and they put a lot of work into her mental and physical fitness. All due to her work with Mouratuglu.

Do we still want to write him off as a fake , narcissistic money grabber or can we give him some credit now?

Players can improve. Maybe her serve would be "at least" 6 mph faster if she had no coach at all.

Coaches: stay in the background, do your work and STFU.

Has she employed that wicked Wimby grass court slice serve he showed her yet?

Note that "I told you".

Put a lot of work into their mental fitness and in the first slam they did together she had a literal nervous breakdown on the tennis court in the second round while up a set and a break. Tremendous job.

I give him no credit for leeching on to obviously talented tennis players in slumps and riding them back to the top, no. I mean, maybe some, but not as much as most seem to want to give him. How come he can't get Tsitsipas over the top, for example?

Yes. Halep is on the struggle bus now and would have made it at least a round further at Wimbledon if Patrick hadn't sold her on his BS.

Halep doesn't need technique, maybe a more consistent serve. What she needs is mental strength and tactics. If Patrick can be a good cheerleader/motivator he could be helping indeed.

“I think I'm a better player now than when I was at 27 because I've practiced for another 3 years and I've got 3 years more experience,” Halep said. “Maybe I don't have the confidence level that I had at 27 when I was winning 4 matches in a row, but I feel like I hit a bigger serve, my backhand is better, my forehand is still as good as it's ever been, I volley better than I have in the past. I think I've had to adapt to a new generation of players again.”

And that is exactly what coaches do as well, it's not just physical , right?

Averaging 90mph serve for a match, 50% first serves in, 8 double faults.

Where have you gone Darren Cahill, our Halep turns her lonely eyes to you.

Does Halep just not hit slice shots generally? I was wondering if she would ever give that a try as opposed to trying to just over power her opponent. She just seemed to give her opponent exactly what she wanted. I know it's easier said than done but, I anticipate Jabour will mix up the shot selection more and win. And of course Halep's serve issues seemed like an over-riding problem.
