Patrick Mouratoglou explains why Novak Djokovic is the GOAT – not Roger Federer or Rafael Nadal

Patrick Mouratoglou believes Novak Djokovic has the edge over Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal in the conversation over which player is the greatest of all time.

‘I do believe that when the three of them are at the top of their game then Novak has an edge on them. ‘He came after them when they were already dominating the game, he showed that he could beat both, become No.1, stayed No.1 and he did it several times.
‘He was also able to beat Roger many times and become No.1 while those two were at the top. He’s a bit better than the two others as difficult as it is to say. A lot of people are going to disagree with me but that’s my belief.’

This may explain why Djokovic currently has the best aka most-evolved style of play for the current era, but it is hardly an argument about who is the GOAT in the conventional meaning of that term.

This is so flawed. Depends totally on conditions. On fast grass and fast USO and fast AO, Fed has the edge over him.

That's why greatenss is achievements and not who is best on current conditions.

Djokovic is the triumph of defence over attack under prevailing court conditions, so I think his style of play is the most successful style at present.

I'm not making any arguments, but of course the press will say current nr.1 is the goat.
If Fed wins, you will see how they will all change their tune, so trusting mainstream media for information is bad idea, no matter if you are Djokovic fan or not. They are telling you what you want to hear.

Hey, guess what, do you know that CNN says Hillary is a great person? Lol.

The last i checked, Novak still needs 6 majors to cross Fed. Patrick used some technology to time travel to 2025 ?
Why he has to cross Fed at all ? Did Djokovic use some technology to time travel to 2004-2007 ?

2014-19 far surpasses any weak era that you can conjure.

It is better you don't bring up weak era. It hurts Novak's resume badly. He has won 9 of 15 ( it will become 10 of 16) in this period, after age 28

2014 ? :-D Why stop there, go to 2011 please.
If I may add "unwillingly", Federer would be on 17 if it weren't of weakest period 2016-2017.

Patrick is in a way saying its not just about total number of Slams. All three are amazing players but it's between Roger and Novak at the monent then if we go by Patrick's reasoning.
I personally think Roger has an edge for his all-round game, longevity and dominance over several peak years imo and increases it if he beats Novak tomorrow.
If Novak wins, his claims improve.

If we don't go by Slams count, Roger beating Rafa yesterday demoted Nadal to third place, as overall, Roger and Novak are better than Rafa everywhere apart from clay.

The only intelligent thing you've ever posted was this last sentence.

Djoko beat Fed again (achievement).

You're really learning, proud of ya
