This summer, Annacone will be taking his immense experience and talents to the coaching team of Stan Wawrinka. Announced just before Wawrinka was to play Rafael Nadal in the French Open final, Annacone will join the three-time Grand Slam champion during the grass-court swing. That includes Wimbledon, the only Grand Slam tournament Wawrinka has yet to win.

I'm not sure if Annacone will be a good fit for Stan. Time will tell.

Sucks I like Annacone in the booth at TC. Is he adding him with Norman or ditching Norman?

He made a couple of QFs. Not that bad.
Yeah he's not that bad on grass, 2 QF appearences in 2014-2015 I believe. Grass has always been his weaker surface, when you look at his style, he needs a lot of time to setup his shots and grass tends to play faster, so it's not very kind to him.

I do wonder what is the reasoning behind adding Annacone only for Wimbledon? Is he trying him out as a special addition to the team or he eventually wants to replace Norman? What else can Annacone provide?

Maybe what he did for Fed, pushing him to come in more and get more comfortable at the net.

Annacone? His coaching experience is mostly jumping on the wagon after the horses were already in the stable.
Sampras and Fed were already no. 1 players. Henman was already top 10 and never took the next step with him. Fed's volley didn't improve with him, it wasn't until Edberg when it improved significantly.

Then there's Sloane Stevens...

Can't blame the coach after all Sloane plays the matches. Don't know what Stan is hoping for. I will tell him for free that he is an adequate volleyer at best, I f I had a nickel for every butchered forehand volley… Also the overhead, ugh. Both in the semis and the final he had overhead smashes near the baseline that he played too safely and lost the point in a couple more shots. If you serve 120 mph into the box, how can't you do that with the whole singles court as your target?

Annacone is a good coach, he helped players like Pete Sampras and Roger Federer find more success when they thought they couldn't.

That were exactly my thoughts even back then when Annacone became Roger’s coach. I had a fear that would be the beginning of the end because I knew he was the late career coach of Sampras and Henman, and Roger himself was almost 30 when he hired him.

I was never really positive about Annacone because he seemed like a man who just tried to convince older players with less footwork to shorten the points or even to rush the net on any occasion. So I thought the Roger we knew and loved would be over.

I’m so happy that I was wrong and Roger still had a very good part of his career after him.

And honestly I have absolutely no idea what Annacone could do for Stan, who has a completely different game than Annacone prefers.
