Paul Pierce says he's the best player in the world...

Where was this....I don't really want to comment something that could be out of context since it is from the Lakers' website. But if it isn't out of context I just lost a lot of respect for PP. I mean KG alone is at least twice as good as PP. So Kobe wouldn't even be a comparison.

I don't think he would said something like that. It was prolly taken out of context as he might have said something about him being the finals MVP or something.

I don't think that comment is bad. I'm sure a number of players in the NBA feel they're the best player in the world. Who cares if Pierce thinks he's better than Kobe?

As far as off the court activity, do you want to root for the guy who donates millions to hospitals or do you want to root for the guy who spends millions on an apology ring?

PP is just going by the Finals, where he was the best player in the series. Plus, he shut Kobe down, then lite him up on the other end of the floor. Over all Kobe is still a better player night in and night out.

And it didn't help that Pau and Lamar choked on the big stage.:-?

Sorry, but Pierce is way better than "half as good" as your precious Kobe Bryant. But he's definitely NOT the best player in the world.

That's gotta be a joke right? Now make no mistake. I'm certainly not a fan of Kobe fan, but the man is head and shoulders above Paul Pierce in every category. Without Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce would be sitting his ass at home without a title. Give Paul Pierce the same Lakers team and they don't even make the playoffs esp. in the west.

hmm... if he does think he his better than kobe... then he is delusional.

i don't know how off court activity has anything to do with this thread... not to mention pierce must have been messing with some thugs back in the day to be stabbed quite a few times at a club.

if he really made such a claim i think it shows a lack on class on PP's part. it is one thing when a person actually is the world's best... but when you aren't anywhere near that category such a comment makes you look like a fool. i have never been a fan of pierce though he has been a very good player for a long time. i don't understand why it seems hard for so many good athletes to show some class anymore...

Not a joke at all. Paul Pierce half as good as Kobe? You'd be a fool to say this (and not admit any exaggeration). So if Kobe's midrange is rated 100/100 (as best in the league), you'd rate Pierce's a 50? Haha, okay buddy. Of course without Ray Ray and KG, Pierce wouldn't have a title. What the hell is that supposed to mean? Without Shaq, Kobe wouldn't have any rings. That hypothetical team swap argument doesn't mean anything, either.

Well, damn, THEY DID. The Finals MVP.

Anyway I actually agree with the Kobe fans on this one. Kobe is a much much better player. But I took Paul Pierce's comments to mean you have to think that way, you have to think you are the best, and that you have to be confident in this league.

Kobe is definitely the better player. I don't think by a lot, though. Pierce has proved to me that he can step up and carry a team on his back when nobody else did. It doesn't make sense to me when someone tries to take away from Pierce, or any other player for that matter, but saying "he has the better team, thats why he did so good". It's just illogical to me to make that a fault of a player.

True. And without Pippen, Michael Jordan wouldn't have a title. In fact, Pippen was always closer to get a title without Michael than Michael without Scottie.

Scottie = GOAT :D

you guys make it seem like such a far stretch from realityy but i mean in the playoffs this year pierce was playing at a level that was top 5 in the world...he was by far better than garnett during the playoffs on both the defensive and offensive side...i believe kobe is the best of course but he didnt look that way during the finals

Scottie had the rest of the Bulls championship team when he made it to the Eastern conference finals. Jordan had the Wizards. Case closed.

Laker fans amaze me...Kobe is better then PP any/every day...but how can you still like the guy? He's the worst teammate in proffessional sports!!

Nobody is saying you have to like the guy, but give credit to where credit is due. I think the guy is a giant a$$hat, but he's the best basketball player on the planet. I was the same way with Jordan. I couldn't stand the guy, but he was amazing.
