pb10 mid and loopy balls

When I hit with pb10 mid for the very first time I was super impressed (the build quality, the solidness, the feel, ...). But I am having a couple of problems
with this frame and I wanted to see if other pb10 users have a similar experience:

1. I think that strings tend to die (and become a rocket launcher) much faster
than my other frames (granted, all are 18x20 except for the Dunlop 100)

2. This might be related to the first point. My balls are way more loopy with pb10 mid. I have to drastically change my swing for the ball to stay low and not to land 10 feet past the baseline. I don't have this problem with Dunlop 100s (16x19 too) but they have a traditional mid head size vs the long mains on pb10 mid. I even tried POG mid (that's a string breaker, a set of thin poly lasted 10-15 mins on me) and even that wasn't as loopy as pb10 mid.

I have string this pb10 only twice and if I remember right i really liked freshly
strung. But my impression has been that the string goes dead (always a full set of co-poly) way before it breaks.

I just got one, but it's strung with synthetic gut.
1. Maybe the string pattern and density, coupled with poly's tendency to lose performance quickly is the cause of the rocket launching. I don't think I'll have that issue as synthetic gut performs about the same for me right up until it breaks.
2. I was getting more topspin than with my Yonex and Prestige mids, and I did have to do something a little different to flatten a ball out. I did feel that I could safely hit balls five feet over the net without them going long though.

I'm too lazy to cut strings out before they break, but it sounds as though you like the poly so a fresh set is probably the way to go.

I'm probably the wrong person to ask. If I was using poly or a multi, I would probably have that kind of information. Over the course of three hours of play, synthetic gut felt the same.

Could it be just a matter of what are you used to, with regards to swing path and timing?

For me PB10 mid produces the flattest shots of all the racquets I tried. Haven't noticed any difference with string ageing faster also.

But I do notice every time I come back to it (it's too heavy for me nowadays for match play) that different flexy feel it has which I think subconsciously makes me hit the ball differently.

That's true. I am used to 18x20 patterns (98 sq in or smaller).
But I don't get the same loopy balls with 16x19 frames, say Dunlop 100 (granted i still consider that a dense string pattern) and even BB London. I even tried a Slazenger V100 Team for fun and the trajectory was still flatter.
It might be the strings die too fast on pb10 and the launch angle increases!

What racquets did you try before pb10?

I had (and still do ) the London Tour way before I tried the pb10. No problem
with London Tour (but that's expected given the 18x20 pattern on a small head size). The string bed behavior stays predictable even after the strings have gone dead.

I really like the feel of pb10 mid though. It feels really solid without feeling that heavy. (I like the soft feel of the London Tour on the other hand, but it doesn't feel as solid at the pb10).

I started this thread to see if people have similar problems with the pb10. Usually I am fine with 16x19 patterns that have 8 mains (vs. 6) at the throat. But pb10 gives me way more loopy balls than I would like. Plus it is very string sensitive and I loose a lot of control once the strings start to go head.
