Both have 10 ATP titles
Zverev has 3 Masters already but 0 slam finals (obviously), but has big WTF victory (straight set victories over Fed and Novak indoors)
Soderling has Nadal’s FO scalp (and Fed’s for that matter), but just one Masters (Paris at that).

Zverev career stats:

Zverev has won many more significant matches in his career and his 10 titles are of much higher caliber than Soderling's. I guess "peak" level has no effect on titles...

Geez, Zverev has like 7 to 8 more peakish years. A lot can happen in that time, or nothing, just like Zverev's last 6 months.

However, comparing the current resumes, Zverev wins, as Soderling has like one or two big moments. Zverev already has like 4 or 5.

Soderling. Zverev doesn't have a high peak level, he knows how to string together enough good matches to win titles. Soderling can hit anyone off the court.
Blowout on clay, closer on hard, and Zverev would win on grass.

Consider that Zverev's wins are during the big 4 in decline whereas Soderling played during their peak.

We haven't seen peak Zverev yet but you have to be joking right ?

Soldering on clay at the level he was on in 2009 ,2010 RG hilariously blows anything Zverev has shown yet anywhere on any surface.

Even on HC I will pick Soderling.

Grass might go to Sascha

Mind you this is about peak level only.
Federer smoked 2009 Soderling in FO. Peak Zverev could have done more!
I am the only Zverev vote so far!

So Peak Soderling wins back to back WTF matches in straight sets against two greatest indoor players ever?

Besides the Nadal 2009 match, where else have we seen peak Soderling?
Maybe Nadal WAS injured after all that day?

“Peak” Soderling went 0/6 in sets in slam finals.

I feel that Soderling is deified on here on the basis of ONE match.

When you watch these highlights, you'll see that Nadal's level was far below his norm here. His lateral movement is clearly impaired and balls are landing on the service line instead of deep in the court.

Yes, Soderling deserves major props for this victory, but Nadal was not 100%.. This "peak" Soderling looked much worse against 2009 Fed than say Delpo in the SF or even Haas (who had Fed on the ropes).

But 2009 Soderling didn't look so nice here, did he?

Yes, Soderling looked very good against Fed the year after but 2010 Fed also lost to Berdych at Wimbledon!

What is peak Zverev? Any version of Zverev from what we have seen on far would be crushed by peak Soderling

What is peak Soderling? Besides the 2009 Nadal debacle (which Soderling could never repeat), which matches display this mythical beast?

Soderling's clay record against Nadal in sets:
Sets played on clay:
Nadal 12 Soderling 3 (the only 3 sets he ever won against Nadal on clay were at the FO 2009). He got wiped out in the 2010 final and in 2011 as well. Why couldn't he summon this "Peak" creature from the depths for at least one set?

So why didn't Soderling win any clay event besides Bstaad in his home country?
Yes, two consecutive FO finals is a great achievement, but no titles to show and straight set losses in both finals makes him a Thiemster ;)

On clay in a BO5, no chance for Zverev. On hardcourt, it's more even. Grass...i don't know. Beyond taking Nadal to 5 and making a QF, I don't remember much grass prowess from Soderling. I guess it's sort of even although I think Zverev will improve on this surface.

I've seen both live many times. Soderling was so much the better player it's not even worth discussing. It shows how great peak Fed was that Soderling's H2H against Roger is 1-16. Zverev never even played Roger until Fed was ancient.

Soderling was awesome.

Wish the polls were public. OP, career achievements and peak level are different, and Zverev is lucky that he was born at such an opportunistic time. He just has to wait for Federer to retire, Rafael to decline further and Novak to get older to start winning slams. The only guy that could pose a threat to him should be Tsitsipas (others are too young or mugs) and Thiem. 'Course right now losing to a retiree like Ferrer is the best that he can muster.

He also beat a strong version of Fed the year after. That Nadal match was no fluke. When on, Soderling was scarily good.

That was Nadal's game back then, rather than an anomally. You are used to see 2013-onwards Nadal hitting really deep shots, but back in the day he was an animal in speed and could win running and defending.

Check it out the RG 2008 SF, where Nadal destroyed Djokovic in straight sets by constantly hitting the ball to the service line:
