Penn Championship Regular Duty Balls

There is one tennis courts nearby (hard courts not clay courts), where ball bounces really high. I hit a lot of topspin, usually I don't have problems with high balls. But on this court, when my opponent loops high ball back with no pace. It's very tough for me to hit through it, as on this court even no pace ball bounces high and feels pretty heavy. To me, although the surface is hard court, it plays like clay court.

I'm thinking about using Penn Championship Regular Duty balls instead of Extra Duty (I'm so used to Penn Extra Duty balls). Last time my impression with Penn Regular duty ball is it bounces much lower than Extra duty. I'm not 100% sure. I wonder if anyone can confirm this?

Maybe it plays into the bounce, but isn't regular duty and extra duty more a function of the felt rather than the bounce?

Extra Duty vs Not Extra Duty is the felt cover on the balls. XD is normally used for hard courts since the covers need to last. Not XD for clay or grass. Since there is a regulation on USTA/ATP approved balls (weight, bounce, size), the XD ball may be slightly heavier. You can certainly use whatever ball you want to use. Bounce is really a function of how much pressure is inside the ball. If you don't like the high bounce, open the can early (1 hour) and then use them. Opponent may not like you.

I would say they bounce a bit lower, but the Wilson xd also bounces lower as well and there won't be any objection to it "for being a clay court ball." [emoji5]

I think the WTA is using the Penn rd in Cincinnati.
Fwiw, I don't think it's a good clay ball as it picks up allot of court particles!

I played with a can of the Penn regular duty balls on the side it says 'ideal for soft courts'. I'm not sure what that means but I'm guessing clay or carpet or something. The balls felt super pressurized, you could hardly squeeze them and they bounced incredibly high on hard courts. They were terrible.
