Never knew that Pete played with his pyjamas on.
Sampras picture forum:mrgreen:
leaping overhead smash - where to find?
Looking for the one of him executing a perfect leaping overhead smash with the crowd in the background. That one is a classic and is the only tennis picture I've seen that I want to blow up and hang on the wall. The higher the resolution, the better. Really want that one. Saw it once, but can't find anymore.
Picture I saw was a side profile, not a 3/4 front that oscar just put up.
OK, I´ve got a pix of Andre and Pete on the court. They are behind the fat man..
check out the elevation is like a basketball player!
If Agassi has one, Pete needs another right
Look at that classic Eastern Forehand, I bet you are not going to see one like this again...
Pete had some big wrist. His power on his serve in my mind came from his large arms.
Look at how much weight he has on that stick...
I would love to compare the arm lenghts of Sampras and Federer, i am sure Pete has bigger arms.
Pete Sampras Classic Forehand...
"The serve" No comments..
 ^^^^. I will remember that moment, the guy never showed any emotion, the time i remember was when his coach was dying when he was playing Courier.
So Justin Henin , you have a Stomach ache?
Cracking photo - look at the angle of his forearm and wrist...
Hey - does anyone remember, or even possess a photo or a copy of that Nike advert he did around 1997, the camera was above him, he was in mid-toss/serve and the graphic designers had replaced the tennis-ball with a super-imposed hand-grenade?
No text - just that black-and-white photo.....awesome advert.
This was from one of his all-time best tennis accomplishments. In the first rubber in the Davis Cup final against Russia in '95, Pete faced Andrei Chesnokov on clay in Russia. Pete won the match 3-6, 6-4, 6-3, 6-7(5), 6-4 and collapsed at the end of the match suffering from cramps in his legs. He had to be carried off the court.
USA defeated Russia 3-2 to take the cup. Sampras won both singles defeating Chesnokov and Kafelnikov and also won the doubles teaming up with Todd Martin to beat Kafelnikov/Olhovskiy.
Sampras was the Davis Cup hero that year. On clay.
This result is one of his most impressive that is little discussed. It showed me how much fight and determination Sampras has.
Shaky backhand ? maybe, but still nice looking stroke...
Does anyone use an 85 inch racquet head now and days?
Notice, that Pete's One handed backhand Opposite to the vast majority of players today. He does not have the index Knuckle separate facing the sky.
Forehand Volley, Continental grip on both sides...If theres is one word That I would use to define Pete's strokes is "Classic"
