I am watching Pete play Tod Martin on the tennis channel (Championship at the Palasades) - I wonder what's with his racket? It looks like a Wilson Nsix-one, but it it looks like it has a Babolat stencil on it? I guess he ould have his wilson strung up with Babolat string maybe.

Hey James, how you doing?

If I'm not wrong, I believe Sampras doesn't have a lifetime contract with Wilson, so I don't think he wants to unnecessarily advertise Wilson through the stencil. The last time I heard, he was using VS gut in the mains and Luxilon in the crosses on his Ncode.

As you may know, he had both the Wilson AND Babolat stencils in his racquet during his professional days:

What I'm curious is: Does Sampras still have a contract with Babolat because of the Babolat stencil he's using nowadays? Otherwise, why would he have the Babolat stencil on his Ncode other than for contract/advertising purposes?

What's up John? Things are going good. My wife gave birth on Sunday to my daughter. No tennis for me besides the tennis channel.

I heard that Pete doesn't have a lifetime sponsorship from wilson because he never changed his racquet, not even the paintjob, so that didn't help wilson push new frames and does ticked off wilson a bit. not like pete needs sponsorships anyways.

Gotta say Wilson brass are abunch of scums. Its because of Pete that the PS 85 is still very popular to this day (yea, I know its a great racquet to boot). Point is by him using it throughout his career when racquet tech began to boom showed fan and tennis players how great this racquet is (even after 20 plus years).

Am I the only one who thinks he sort of looks monkey-ish in this picture?

I know the answer to this question

Am I the only one who thinks he sort of looks monkey-ish in this picture?

Pete was not trying to be a monkey. He was crying. The photo was taken in 1995 Australian Open when he learned his coach, Tim Gullikson, was dieing from cancer. I guess its hard to have a private moment to yourself when the world is watching you.

"Wilson brass are a bunch of scums".....oh? A strong conclusion to reach with NONE of the facts. Perhaps Pete wanted an exorbitant amount of money from Wilson, and Todd didn't, to play in these tournaments that almost nobody sees. Who knows?
