Maybe it’s correct, since it’s their forum. This is not a social democracy run forum.
You don’t agree to their decision.
I'll partially agree to that, but web traffic/success is dictated by users and if your user base isn't content with your product then they'll go elsewhere (albeit extremely limited options). I get this site is free and all but at the end of the day this site is here so we come back to them to purchase goods.

Remember when they changed the look of this site a few months ago and everyone was up in arms? They had all the right to do so, and but there were kinks. They listened to some of the recurring feedback and reimplemented things. I think it should follow in this case, if enough people think something is important to stay on the site then maybe they should be open to it or at least offer a bit more logic on how likes were making things difficult for the mods ...

Or not. It doesn't matter. The Amazon rainforest is on fire and we're all going to die soon anyway ;)

So please confess all your ill intention behind your past posts in the Church of Zara. No worries - all is forgiven as always but you will still need to come clean and redeem yourselves. Remember, when you hurt others; you hurt yourself because we are all one entity reflecting back.

The Like button will be forever yours then.

Don’t think anyone besides Americans buy goods from here. To me that would be not a smart choice as I live in Europe and I get sports equipment half price from what’s listed here. Many here have never even bought a tennis ball from this site.

Also like functions in general hasn’t been for long in the world, we don’t know the whole impact it has. Maybe it’s not a great idea. Instagram has put restrictions on it. Facebook and other social media has gone in another direction than many thought. It’s not all positive to have like function, but many addicted to it now.

When you like a post where the main intention was to insult a poster or a player, you know full well, you are promoting bad behviour. And you are provoking a poster or even worse, the whole fanbase. It seems benign on the apparent - fun even, but it has a huge ripple effect that's mostly negative.

Children - do you not see the challenge you have here? You need to behave. It's that simple.
Not that you don't have a point but that is not why it was taken away. Introducing bunch of "reactions"on top of likes wouldn't make sense then.

add a dislike button along with like button

It had been added, along with many other options (hate, lol, nauseating, sickening, stupid, STFU, are-you-nuts, what-the-hell-are-you-talking-about...), but then a week or so afterwards, all options were removed. This is why many are so confused.

Goodness. That's a bit much.

And how strange all this is anyway. To go from everything to nothing in a matter of week. lmho!

@TW Staff...it would be nice if you brought it back. Posting here is better with it. I miss being able to hit like when someone goes to the trouble of posting something good. Thanks :)

Cannot help but think this is a shining beacon of proof the quality postings improved with the removal of the like function

Wonder why pressing a 'like' button needs moderation? Technical issues of some kind?

The official response is that the recent "Reaction" feature caused moderation issues; not the old like button per se. Keep in mind that the like button existed for 4 years, presumably without any issues.

The implication is that the XenForo software does not support an implementation of the Like button without also including the problematic React.

Maybe a software expert can confirm this.

That makes far more sense.

I'm surprised they wouldn't just tell us this

Really? I find your point of view very subjective. In my not humble opinion, quality is more or less the same. Have you read ALL the threads in the forum?

We’ll make this thread the one with record posts in TTW unless likes are reinstated.
We’ll win this with the power of reason or by the power of boredom.

Then dump the "reaction" feature since it sucked away and was only around for about 5 days.
Apparently the software does not support dumping the "reaction" feature while still keeping the like button.
That would be the only explanation as to why the board does not go back to the previous configuration that worked okay for years...
Unless there were lots of complaints/reports with the previous configuration that we did not hear about.

In this latest update, the reactions were expanded beyond the "like" option. This along with some issues we've had with the "likes" function being misused led to the decision to remove them. Initially we could not find where we could limit the reactions. We have since done our homework and have removed all reactions except the "like."

We have brought back the likes because they were popular with you, and they should be visible to you now. However, misuse of the "likes" function and/or reactions scores will lead to the removal from the option.

Thank you,
TW Staff

Thanks for your responsiveness.

But what do you mean by misuse ?

The only regret is the hundreds of likes I didn’t give, nor receive.
I will go back on all posts of last weeks and proceed accordingly.

Good job guys, effectively adding the dislike button caused strife so thanks for removing it while reinstating likes.

I appreciate the response, but would you mind expanding a little bit on how the like button has been misused in the past? Because I still don't understand what that means and I don't want to be part of the problem. That way we can all be clear on the rules moving forward and how to avoid a situation like this again.

I agree. You can warn people all you like, but if they don't even know what you are talking about... I must read way less than 1% of the threads here, so it's unlikely I ever got a chance at noticing what went wrong. Can you help please TW Staff?
