Philadelphia/East Coast: playable outdoors in the morning?

Hi all,

A friend and I are heading to Philadelphia tomorrow and will be there for 10 days. We usually bring tennis racquets to trips like these and play in the morning around 10AM before our other activities kick in around noon and last through the evening.

With the weather and the lower temperatures planned we weren't sure: is this a reasonable plan? or should we skip the tennis racquets and find some other activity? She was concerned about dew in the morning and then there is the obvious concern about snow.

If relevant, we are staying in the City Center and were planning on playing at Seger Park.

Thanks for any advice/tips/etc! Coming from the west coast so no clue how reasonable it is to play outdoors in the morning this time of year.

This time of year you should get at least a couple days where it will fine to hit at 10AM.

What is your temp cutoff? If it has to be over 60 you might luck out and get 1 day worthy. If you can tolerate 50s probably get 2 or 3 worthy days.

By 10AM dew should not be an issue, but I have played while it was snowing after I cut a hole in a sock to cover my hand. Hidden benefit of the 1HBH.

Well there was a nor'easter today. If the weather warms up over these next couple of days you should be fine. We started playing outdoors after spring break (which is this week) when I was in school there and never really had any issues with it being too cold

Temp isn't really the issue, we were just worried about dampness on the courts. Admittedly coming from Seattle where it seems to always be wet, so we might not properly understand how weather works in other parts of the country :)

This would be a no-go in our area (NH). The problem would be that the nets aren't up and the courts quite dirty. Philly is quite a bit south of us so no idea there.

The snow an hour south is melted already. You should be fine to get some hitting in if your aren't worried about temps. At 10AM dew should not be an issue except in the grass.
