My all time fav with my current fav....

When two of the greatest forces in this universe meet.

Caught some great action on the outer courts past couple of days (going today and tomorrow too). I like to go lone wolf a lot because then you can snag the random 1 open seat in the front row. It's awesome because you can hear what the players say and sometimes you are right near their coaches.

All of these were taken from the front row of various matches. Sorry for the lousy quality, just crappy cell phone pics. I try and see players I have never seen before (I go every year for the last several years).

I just had to see Gulbis in action. I was sitting next to his coach and friends/gf. Dude is so funny. Got a warning for obscenity and he asks the chair if he understands Latvian:

Do you even know what I said? That means 'hair comb' in Latvian! I will bring you Latvian dictionary after the match and you can see!

Chair: It was Russian.

EG: I speak Russian and Latvian! That was Latvian! Hair comb! I will prove it!

Bolt played really well and won.

this dude hits as big as any pro player on tour. he hits everything huge all the time.

Watched the Zverev bros in a good match against Cabal/Farrah. The Colombians won in a super tb. Sasha didn't feel well and they picked on him constantly!

Checked out young phenom Anisomova who went down to Mertens.

Watched a nice contrast in styles, Mannarino v Sandgren. It was like a ballet dancer against a bull, Mannarino is so light on his feet, so good at redirecting pace. Sandgren hits a heavy ball but he looks like he's working so much harder. Mannarino won in three.

And yes, Mannarino is a total dick. A ball girl at the net post had a ball in her hand. Middle of a game AM stops and keeps asking her in a mean tone for the ball. She looks confused and throws it to him. He swats it to the back fence and says to her, "The balls belong THERE!" Control freak much, jeez. Fun to watch though, he's gotta deal with these monster hitters.

Sandgren hit it so hard he caused a solar flare.

Best match I've see yet was Basilashvili v Gunneswaren. Basil hits the ball so hard, so consistently it makes you wonder how it's humanly possible. Break point up, break point down, set point, match point, does not matter. Never gets happy, never gets mad, dude has icewater in his veins. Tons of Indian fans on hand (but no @sureshs wtf) which made for a great atmosphere. High quality match in doubt to the very last point. Gunny played out of his mind and won in a 3rd set tb. Basil probably would have won if he just made Gunny play some balls and feel the moment in the tb but no, gotta go for those 100mph liners lol.

@norcal is the lineswoman Shino in the Nishioka pic ?

I don't know who Shino is but the infamous Serena 'ball down the throat' lineswoman was calling service lines in the RBA match. I'm convinced the WTA flies her around the world as part of some sort of settlement. Players are scraping by and they fly linespeople around wtf lol.

Some more observations:

Zverev is much nicer this year than the last two years. Maybe it's fake, but he's been really sweet to kids and ball kids. Mischa is even nicer.

Tsitsipas isn't as nice, seems distracted, irritable and impatient with fans and with most people during his practices. He looks less impressive in person (as does Zverev).

Handsomest and sweetest guy? Tommy Haas!

Fed match to start soon, hope to get some good pics of that, but I have lousy seats.

I’m flying in tonight and have never been, I’m super pumped. Will Federer likely play Wawrinka Tuesday night and how much are we talking in cost to get a decent seat? I just bought the basic ground passes for the day sessions but would splurge for Fed.

It's very easy to scalp tickets outside the ticket-taking area in the parking lots. You'll see plenty of people with signs or "looks," asking if you need to get hooked up with tickets. The buzz is Fed will play around 4:30 PST against Stan and be on third match. That is not confirmed, I'm just repeating what I've heard.

Yes, Shino is the cute little chubbster that Serena threatened. See her calling lines all the time. Does a great job. Should be promoted to chair.

More random observations:

Isner is nice to everyone, fans love him.

Novak even nicer than usual to fans. Yesterday a kid wanted him to do a headstand for a pic while out on the grass area where the guys play soccer. He actually started to get into the position to do the headstand, but too many people started rushing over, so he aborted it. But then he signed the kids cap and posed for a bunch of pics.

This is the best thread yet! These pics are incredible! Thanks to everybody that have shared these pics. These pics bring you there. The only downside is that now, I will probably need to cough up the cash and go next year, especially if Fed is still playing.

Have any of you gotten within 10 feet of any of the players?

If you time it right and get a front row seat on one of the outer courts you are extremely close. I was watching Medvedev, Sabalenka, Fog as close as you could watch someone playing in the park, like 15 feet away.

Currently waiting for Fed to show up for practice, about 30 feet away.

Sampras looking old

Happy someone else noticed Thought that was just me. When I saw that picture of Djokovic with Sampras, I didn't even know that was Sampras at first honestly. Then when I realized it was I said to myself "Holy smokes, he looks old now."

They had shown him before so I saw him on TV. He was sitting with his son.

I know many of us here attend this tournament, I thought this thread could contain all of our photos taken there this year. Here's mine from the last two days. I hope others will post their own pics. Random observations: both Fed and Rafa now have grey in their whiskers, Novak is looking very skinny but fit and Stan is looking awesome.

When did you become such a photog?:D

Stood by myself front row watching Cecchinato rip one handers on one of the outside practice courts. One of the most beautiful strokes I have ever seen. I could have watched it all day. Damnit they should abolish the two hander from men’s tennis.
