Here are some photos of 3 of Agassi's personal Head Radical Tour Paintjobs!

Left to right:
Head Radical Tour 260/690, 20x21 String pattern, used during November 1993.
Same racket as above, 20x21 string pattern, with Zebra paintjob, new never used 1997.
Same racket as above, only 18x19 string pattern, with iRadical paintjob, used during Wimbledon 2003.

The iRadical paintjob is definitely the same mold as the other 2 (apart from the different string pattern), it looks like a slightly rounder head, but this is due the stringing causing this rounder shape.

Sorry I was going to get the racket on the left re-strung before doing the photos, will probably do it next week now, the 20x21 stringing pattern looks very cool I think!

All 3 have nice leather grips, overgrips were removed from the 2 used rackets before I got them. The Zebra paintjob is new never used, this definitely also has a leather grip, even though it is wrapped in plastic.

I think it is funny that they copied the retail pattern onto Agassi's leather grips (on the 2 older rackets here at least), even though when Agassi is using the rackets, because they are under the overgrip, the public will never actually see paintjobbed grips. Amazing attention to detail!

Interestingly at various times during 1993, Agassi used 3 different string patterns (16x19, 18x19 and 20x21), sticking with the 20x21 towards the end of the year and then stayed with it basically for the next 5 years! (Just a few exceptions during 1994-98, when he used 16x19 at some point in May 96 and April 98 I think?).

A bit difficult to see in the above photo, but the grommets for the 20x21 rackets (for the top 2 rackets in the photo above) are obviously exclusive to Agassi's rackets. I need new grommets for the oldest racket really before stringing it, where am I going to get a new set from?

do you know how much the racquets weigh? i think he

Incredible stuff jimbo, the 'paintjob' leather grip is epic! I'd love to own one of these, for the few times one came up they always cost too much. Thanks for sharing.:)

PS. have you checked under the grip? Have read that Agassi has his grip molded to fit his hands exactly, would be interesting to see it!

Cheers, yes there is silicon in all of the handles. I always forget to measure the specs, but I will do it at some point and post here. Just to point out that these are not 100% fully set up; the new one won't have had any lead added I shouldn't think, and the used ones may have had any lead removed. Anyway will measure them as they are, as will still be interesting. The last one feels lighter than the other 2. Did Agassi's rackets get lighter in later years?

Cheers, yes I do love the paintjob leather, it is hilarious:)

I havn't checked under the grip, but these do feel really nice in hand. They have a slightly rounded grip (edges are still there though), maybe a little bit Prince like as someone said above, but certainly nothing like normal current Head grips. The grips are as thick vertically as horizontally if that makes sense? And similar to Murray's grips. I'm sure someone can describe his grips better than me!

It is very funny:) I was thinking if Agassi ever changed his overgrips on a racket during a match, with his leather grip "paintjobbed" to look like retail grips actually then would be seen by the public, and the racket would still look like a retail version!

Dying to know the specs at some point, I will have to subscribe to the thread. And it sounds like the grips are based on prince grips, which are quite round as opposed to the very rectangular Head grips.

Here are some close-up photos of Agassi's custom Head Radical Tour 260/690 20x21 from November 1993. I think the "93103-40" on the side of the frame, indicates the racket was customized 3rd October 1993, and this is the racket number 40. Or does it mean something else, anybody know please?

I will do the specs at some point. The grips are slightly rounded, but the edges are there still, but his grip is completely different to Head's current rectangular shaped grip.

He was using his 20x21 pattern for almost all of 1994-98, but in April 1998 he seemed to be using a blacked out POG, which it looks like he also used for one match at Wimbedon in 1998, and in May 1996 at the French Open he seemed to be using a 16x19 pattern on his Zebra paintjob racket. Is that right did he use a 16x19 racket at the French in 1996? And if so what was under the paint? Or am I just imagining it?

The match is question was the FINAL of Roland Garros... in his autobiography he basically blamed his loss to Andres Gomez on the wig coming loose before the match :shock:

As far as I know, the only pro to have "paint-jobbed" his head.

Not quite sure what you mean here. But this was 1993, and at least by etching it on, the number wouldn't come off, like a sticker could, or scratched off if paint!

This is interesting, it shows that the grommet code for the 20x21 Agassi string pattern is TK58A.

I ideally need a new set of these for the used racket, anyone know where I can get one from please?

Hi jimbo, think it will be hard to find TK58A anywhere, these are pro stock grommets made specially for Agassi's frame. Best way is to contact Andre himself.:)

Or give Roman Prokes a call at ****, he might be able to locate some for you...he was, after all, the only other person allowed to touch his tennis racquets.

And I'm going to measure the specs this weekend. Like I said earlier, none of these rackets are now 100% fully set up, but it will give a good idea of his specs at least.

i remember in 1998 for a time he was said to be using an experimental frame. Apparently, it was a Head racquet that used titanium, as that was when the titanium craze began but had not yet been utilized in a player's frame. I think some time later, the ti.Radicals debuted.
