Pickleball Is Now A Crime In Carmel

The city of Carmel has just one public park.

Do gentle residents complain about baseball noise in the park? No.
Do gentle residents complain about basketball noise in the park? No.
Do gentle residents complain about volleyball noise in the park? No.
Do gentle residents complain about tennis noise in the park? No.

What does it tell us that only one “sport” has the honour of disturbing the public peace? It tells us that the inconsiderate dunderheads need to wake up and recognize their sport is annoyingly loud—and modify their equipment.

It’s such a simple fix.

But instead of bowing their heads in shame and kindly doing the needful to reduce their noise pollution, these enthusiasts cultists are agitating and doubling down.

Unbelievable.

It is the USTA's fault that they did not heed warnings 20 years ago about Pickleball and promote Adult Red Ball Tennis.

This could be the beginning of the end for picklers.
@ByeByePoly his case will carry a lot of weight because he is a former tennis player turned pickle player who opposes pickle because as a former tennis player he can understand the noise issues which he himself now creates as a current pickle player, showing that he has cognitive dissonance between tennis and pickleball which implies that he is a very sensitive person with empathy seeing both sides of the coin

Correct.

Kiss was a very clever and popular band even if not to my taste. Simmons' views got him to the White House, not Kiss' music.

Everyone used to ridicule and laugh at Kiss but Gene Simmons, for some reason, is now at the White House collecting a medal for his horrible music.

A few years ago we were looking at a home (for sale) in Pacific Grove, next door to Carmel.
Tennis courts were across the street. That seemed like a plus except that pickelers had taken over.
Even inside the house, the noise was unbearable, clack, clack, clack clack, clack... Homes are
kind of expensive in that area of the coast, so i can see why they might not want to discourage
potential buyers- especially in Carmel where prices are even higher.

If you check out the video above, you will find that Pickleball noise is not only loud but also annoying to the human ear due to its frequency range and intervals. This can actually be measured.

Problem is that in the US, the Pickle crowd is still predominantly older and wealthier and is a large fraction of the population. They are using their clout to force their noise on others.

Or possibly these rich old folks just turn off their hearing aids or leave their ear-trumpets back home.
What I suggest is, if an area wants pickleball, the Courts should be surrounded, not with chain-link fencing, but special
noise-reducing baffles and absorbers.
